Stupid question maybe, I'm getting a TRD cat back exhaust and TRD intake put on today. Should I keep the parts they take off? They only have 500 miles on them.

Or are they not worth anything, not worth keeping?

I will keep it. just in case. For the spare parts, why not.

No idea how much they are worth, but just a word of caution.

I had a GTI a few years back and kept all my stock parts (exhaust, intake, intercooler). Sold the car as it was, and was left with a bunch of spare parts no one wanted.

For my Taco, I sold the parts I took off, although they were maybe a bit more valued (tires and suspension).

IF you have the space, keep them. A few years down the line you may need to replace your exhaust system and you would have a perfectly good replacement system waiting for you. You also may want to go back to stock and you have the items waiting on you.

If you have the extra space keep the stock stuff.

I'm going to keep them, the dealership called and said they needed to know soon, so I just wanted to ask opinions quick. Thanks for the replies.

If I did want to sell the stock parts, does $200 for the exhaust (I think it's $350 new), and $75 for the intake sound fair? I'm not necessarily selling them, I was just curious as what fair price would be, so I don't get ripped off.

I kept my stock catback, it sat in my living room for a year. However, when I went to go sell the truck to the dealer, they reaalllyyy wanted it back.

I have no idea why since the borla I had on there was much better.

    Resale...
Their prospective buyer market was cut by changing the exhaust note. It is what it is... some want a quiet exhaust and dont wanna deal with swapping anything on their "new truck".

Same with lifts... wont appeal to everyone.

It's ironically sometimes harder to sell a modified truck. I think people assume it's been abused. Not sure if that's the dealer's reasoning. From a personal standpoint when selling a vehicle modifications rarely increase the value and pretty much never increase it close to the cost. So when I sell a vehicle I would return as many stock parts I took off as is reasonable and sell them separately if I want. You'll get more money back that way.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
FWIW, I kept my spare parts in the garage for about 2 years. Offered them to people for free. I was only able to get rid of my leafs.

I'd say hang onto them for as long as you want, but feel free to toss them when you need room.

This is what I do, I rotate through cars so much I've learned to keep my stock parts. Aftermarket parts are worth more sold separately than it is on the car

As everyone says it goes both ways. I had a GTI and a Audi Wagon in the past. I kept my stuff and sold the custom parts and put stock back on after an accident. I was able to recoup some cost or more than what I could have sold the car outright. On the other hand all that shit takes up space and it depends on if you are someone that changes cars often or would think of going back to stock. I tend to end up having a bunch of stock parts laying around and still do for the 2 cars previously, my motorcycles and now my truck. I am leaning more towards selling all the stock parts or in some cases giving them away. if you move or other reasons its more shit you have to move around. Just think about how long you will have the truck, how you will use it, would you ever go back to stock and go from there.

If you have room where they'd be out of the way (like up in the rafters of the garage), i'd keep them. If not I'd try to sell them for a few bucks and then trash/give them away if they don't sell. Chances are good you'd always be able to buy cheap OEM take-off replacement parts or swap with someone else down the road. In general I'm a big fan of keeping one's life (and garage) simple and clutter-free.

    This.

Stock exhaust might cost me $350 at the dealer, but if you can sell it out of your garage for $50 you'll be luckier than most. Everybody gets a whole car full of OEM parts (literally), they're a low value item.

Expensive pricing, but low value secondhand.

I sold most of my stuff. Only thing left would be a spare from an ultrasport, avant back shade and a set of KW V2 coilovers ( surprisingly hard to sell, I think too many kids wanting to pay $500 for an almost new set). I have a few random stock brake parts laying around since I put S4 brakes on it when I had it. (which I removed and sold).

Agreed, some people buy if near new but half the time anything you can get for them is a positive so your not selling yourself short if you are clearing space. I was trying to hook up some buddies with stock trucks with my OR suspension and wheels since they had base models for cheap. If we were closer it may have happened.
