I seen a lot people making a sleeping platform

Got my interest as i have a canopy in backyard
And it would be nice to camp during hunting season

How do you guys stay warm sleeping in the bed during winter up north?

2 military sleeping bags and sleeping with all my clothes on kept me warm in 26* weather down here in Southern California, but I know it gets colder than a witch's titty back where I used to live in Maine - so I would suggest a. hot water tank running off your radiator trans pipe if you have a manual, b. extreme cold weather rated sleeping bag c. hot brick, d. dog, e. other human (woman), f. other human (do whatchya gotta do ;)).

In my youth a very good Down sleeping bag I was known for sleeping under the stars in temps from -30F

You need good insulation underneath as well .

The key is to not get to hot and sweat

Don`t waste calories heating urine if you need to drain things do it.

Some people acclimatize to the cold much better then others.

Think of a nice Sunny 70 degrees within 24 hours windy and -30 F

Zero degree mummy bag, thermal undies, and make sure you seal off all those air gaps in the tailgate.

Also, build an insulated platform that fits the floor of the bed, use it as padding and insulation. You could even build into it hot water circulation. Insulate he sides of the bed, and the camper shell, too. You could also have some foam cutouts for the windows.

Now this is a crazy question but, could you somehow extend the heater hoses out of the engine and make a water heater? My benz's windshield wiper tank has a copper coil that uses coolant to heat up the wiper fluid so it clean better. Couldn't you do that with water too for say a shower?

though yeah, if you want to keep it simple and safe, i backpack down into the single digits with a down sleeping bag and underquilt in a hammock.
