I'm going to get a 2018 5' bed dc. Was thinking about getting the factory folding toneau. Checked one out at a dealer today. Noted that it sits up high and only folds 2 panels. Must remove for full bed usage. Looked on line at the Bak toneau. They fit flush. Look better. Support 300 or 400 lbs depending upon which one you choose. AND the last panel before the cab flips up on those mini air shocks and gives you more bed room. Thoughts and recommendations appreciated.

OEMs are garbage. Lots of leaks, questionable construction, poor fitment.

    I'd go aftermarket.

Factory one isn't bad but is a total pain if you are ever loading things into the bed. I got mine free on the truck and it was the best $500 profit ever. I used it for less than a year before selling it during which time it was off the truck for more than half the time so I can carry gear, ATV, etc. If you aren't planning to do this too much, then it's great. However, that's a factor for you, I'd consider getting a rollup one or one that takes up less of a footprint. The thing also has very fragile sections that connect the panels together. I had 2 snap off for no reason.

I got the G4 Elite by Foldacover. It has 4 panels and locks, I'm very happy with it. It doesn't leak too bad either (they all leak a little or worse)

Pricey, but I couldn't be happier with my Truck Covers USA cover... supports up to 500lbs, rolling vs. folding, lockable, water resistant, can get integrated yakima tracks. Pretty bomber quality - still looks and operates like new a year later through all kinds of weather.

Yep me too. But I don't use the full bed much and I just slide stuff in there.

Let me add something about the BakFlip - you can still use your rails - the get mounted about 2" farther down.

Undercover for me. You can totally remove it in about 3 minutes and hang it on the wall. It even comes with hangars.

decide exactly what you do & don't want.

    i wanted a tonneau that:
    - is quickly/easily removable
    - is strong, 300+ lbs support
    - folds flat at the cab (doesn't block rear glass)
    - folds open at both cab & tail panels
    - looks ok or even good. in my case, great.

i found all this in a Extang Encore. get your own list and start comparing. there are good sites with video reviews that will help quite a bit.

BAKflip MX4 or UnderCover Ultra Flex would be my two recommendations.
