Its a crazy field. I got started when I was 19 years old as an EMT, now 26 years old. 2ish of those 7 years in EMS have been as a Paramedic. I've seen and been a part of a lot of crazy things in my career. What city/state do you work in? Which company? Whats your average call volume like? 12 hour shifts, or 24+ hour shifts? How many years in EMS?

As stated, I have 7.. almost 8 years in EMS. EMS is a different creature, as you in EMS know. We have sick, demented, hilarious, sarcastic attitudes and outlooks on life. We don't freak out about most things.. very easily. I work in Northern California. Full time in Manteca and part time in.... Stockton.. the "battlefield". In Manteca, we respond to over 10,000 911 calls with only 4 ALS cars. We cover our own city of 80,000 people (both rural and urban districts) as well as mutual aid to every single surrounding city. Thats a lot, in a 24-36 hour shift. Stockton is a different beast. I'm not sure of their call volume since I'm only part time. Both are super fun, busy, exciting places to work.

I look forward to a long career in EMS, with other income from my "paying" hobbies, photography and selling real estate.
