Okay, I've had a lot of vehicles over the years and I've never seen this one before. I have my overhead interior light in my 2015 Tacoma set to "Door" so it is supposed to turn on with the door open and off when the door is shut. It's also supposed to turn off after 20 minutes even if you accidentally leave the door slightly ajar.

Today I found the light on even after the truck had been shut off for several hours. Light was set to "Door" I checked all the doors and re-shut them. Light stayed on. I switched the light to off and the light turned off but when I have it on "door" it wants to stay on all the time now.

I looked in the manual but found nothing on this. Seems bizarre to me. I've never seen this in any car I've ever had. The "On-Off-Door" system has been rock solid reliable in every car I've ever had.

Maybe I'm missing something here? Another control switch? Light on means something? Warning? Any clues here?

Is the open door warning light on the dash on?

Could be a bad door switch.

Leave it set to off. You can still enter the vehicle without the lights.

Now Murph Those monsters under your bed will just stay there. Their is no need to invite them in to your Taco too.

I agree with this. If I recall the door switch provides the ground for the circuit. Easy to troubleshoot. One bolt to remove the switch from the door frame and one wire to unplug. If I remember correctly the mounting bolt provides the ground connection.
