I dropped my spare tire for the first time while doing the rear breather mod. When i return the spare (valve stem down) i have slight movement if i try to rock it. Is that normal or maybe it is not sitting exactly right in the bracket ? Thanks

There should be no movement. Otherwise there will be wear on the tire or rim in normal driving.

Crank on it a bit more to snug it up.

    crank on it

I keep mine valve stem up and it's snug. With a 33.5" tire up there, it takes a little effort to make it fit. Cranking good and snug is a must.

I found that with the valve down I had a hard time getting the tire to hold fast. I bought a valve extension similar to this on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-300mm-Fl...ash=item5695e9c634:g:xggAAOSw2gxYxiiK&vxp=mtr. The extension allows for valve up storage with the extension end snaked down through the hub hole.

I have had it on for almost 7 years without issue. Plus it makes it very easy to check PSI without having to drop tire.

Hmm mine is mounted with the valve stem down too, Ill have to try flipping it around and see if that fixes it... I have tried cranking on it to no avail... It is a 33'' tire too so would like it to be snug.

I think i cut part of 1 of the arms off yrs ago when i went to 265/75/16 as it was not flush. I wanna say it was a part that jutted outwards so there was no fear of tire damage.

    Make any sense?

Yea....I just hammered the little tabs back to fit the 33''.... my tire fits in the spot well, just not snugging up with the cable, it runs out of adjustment before it is fully snug.
