I know they are safe trucks, that's not what I brought up. It was the hollow, cheap sound when you close the back door. Glad your friend is ok, that looks like a nasty wreck.

this confused me. my truck is insulated all around and the rear doors never had any thin or metallic resonance. i wouldn't expect the Pro trucks to be different regarding this. but maybe they are?

i did go nuts on a custom stereo with Dynamat, but there wasn't any of that sound before i did that work.

I don't know about pro model, I would assume the rear doors are the same. You don't hear the difference between closing the front and closing the rear? You need to close it with a little force(not slamming it)

It's all about energy, the car needs to be able to crumple around the cab like a tin can so the driver doesn't crumble like a tin can. Potential energy vs kinetic, if the metal wasn't able to crumple (kinetic) then it would have transferred through as potential energy and hit him with the force of the wrecker. I honestly think Toyota's design is what saved him, in the days when cars were solid steel and didn't crumple people were often killed instantly in wrecks. The ability of metal to crumple and absorb impact has saved countless lives

Scary as hell, but I Just scraped my knuckle. Those airbags are the real deal.
