so I spoke about my 07 Tacoma deemed a total loss, well like most ins companies my adjuster gave me an salvage retention option, I could keep my newly deemed salvaged truck and they would deduct$$ from my payout check, I chose to retain my truck! im curious what would you guys do or have done?

I would've kept it too. I did it with my first gen. It totaled out for 5500 and I bought it back for a grand, took the 4500 and put it down on my 2012 at the dealer, then I sold the truck on Craigslist for another 5k. Made almost 10k on a truck that only cost 20k brand new and had 600k miles on it.

Depends on the type of damage, skills, tools, workspace and such.

I've had several marquees that I would have done the buy back if the numbers were right, because just minor incidents that deploy airbags can total an older ride that is a still a joy to have.

Truck, maybe, again, depending on it's condition. If you had a rust free frame that was undamaged, you could likely sell it for the cost of the buy back.

I would have kept it. If anything you could get another 2nd gen and toss that SC, bumpers, lift etc and be right back in business. I would love to have the SC. You going to try and fix it or just part the truck out? Hopefully they gave you a decent payout on the truck.
