Just remember that these bolt on sliders mount on the same place as factory running boards, not to the frame. But I don't rock climb only camp every now and then so these are all I need for side protection

I made a little platform for my dogs. I'd thought of removing the seats entirely but then they wouldn't be high enough to see out the windows, so I thought this was a good alternative. I just used a $9 fatigue mat from Harbor Freight and a $20 entryway carpet from Home Depot. I also put down some carpet saver plastic to try and catch the dog hair, but man that stuff is hard to work with. I'll find an alternative for that another day.

While writing this I realized I should have taken pics with the dogs in there...

Another cosmetic mod in the books. Painted a grille to color match my truck and painted the insert a grey scale Texas flag. I snapped some pictures along the way of the raptor grille mod. I had it in my first grille but due to my inexperience it didn't turn out that great. So I took the second grille as an opportunity to do it right and fix some of my mistakes. First off I used a dremel to cut everything for better control and used 1" thick tape to mask off am edge around the grille. To fill the holes left behind I made a dual layer piece with the left over plastic and jb weld them into place. I used the black jb weld that set in 15 and cured in 30. I felt it gave me a good working time without feeling rushed. Once it was all set I started with 120 grit sand paper all the way to 600 grit to smooth out the inside grille. Painted it with some krylon primer/paint in matte black. Most posts I've seen recommend zip ties or wall anchors to mount the insert to the grille. Zip ties seemed cheap and I had zero luck with jb welding the wall anchors on. They failed several times and I got fed up. So I went down to ace hardware and got 8 bolts, 16 nuts, 8 flat washers and 8 lock washers and jb weld the bolt onto the grille portion. The pictures show the set up and on the one my thumb is the side that i used to mount on the grille. Still deciding if I should accent the letters with a red stripe around each one. Also used the nuts as a spacer for the letters. They were almost an exact 1/8". Last picture was the before. If anyone has questions please feel free to reach out. @EatSleepTacos I know you were a little interested in this. The fit of the grille isn't perfect but for $35 I can't complain too much.

 

Sorry to but in. But I used morimoto d2s 4.0 and love them!!! Super easy to install. Definitely recommend but they announced an led version to come soon that I would suggest waiting for!!! They announced it like 2 weeks after I completed mine. By the time you buy their projector and bulbs the led version isn't too far off cost wise. See above post for pics

 

Any problem with leaking or anything like that. Get damaged by the sun real quick or anything

 

No leaking. I bought the depo headlights and laid a FAT bead of new sealant when I did the projectors to be safe. I had the depo headlights assembly for roughly 4 months with no leaks before I tackled the projector mod. And even after than no leaks. Some tips if you do the projectors make sure tighten the lock nut very tightly otherwise they will vibrate a little when you drive and are sensitive to vibrations. But also male sure you are securing the projector level before you tighten. I had an issue where it wasn't super tight and when I installed the bulbs the projector twisted. So I had to open them back up and jb weld the shit out of the projector lock ring to make sure they don't rotate and then tightened the lock nut hard to really get a secure fit. After that they are awesome!

 

Love it! I actually like it a lot better without the "TACOMA" overlay, but that's just personal preference since I subscribe to the KISS motto (Keep It Simple, Stupid). But hey, that's just me... your mod is pro-level. Kudos!

 

So I've had my hi-lift jack mounted inside the bed up in the front to a set of brackets for a little while now. Since going on a few camping trips recently, it started to dawn on me that it may be a PIA to get to if the bed is loaded up with supplies etc. So I decided to make my own mount so I could attach the hi-lift to the existing roof rack I have. Here's what I came up with. I think it came out really well.

 

@ 316,000 did the front brakes!
New rotors, pads etc. from Toyota.
Passenger side broke the lower bolt that holds the caliper on !
Took forever to fix ... drilled and retapped /cleaned out treads .
Drivers side broke a brake line ..... Bleed the lines...
All worth the effort ...
I didn't know how bad they were ....
