Modern life and old age (really, responsibility more than age) has softened the shit out of me with regard to vehicles. From a functional/operational/driving standpoint I would MUCH rather be driving a 5 speed 1992 Hilux quad-cab diesel (the "newest year you can import at this time) than this 2017 Tacoma. I'd happily import one and drive it if I wasn't regularly hauling the wife and kids around. It's frickin bizarre how your mind tells you that you MUST have safety features (ABS, airbags everywhere, crumple zones etc etc etc) your parents never even dreamed of when they hauled you around. The human psyche is a mind boggling thing lol. :D

From what I'm reading it seems there is universal feedback that as of 1.02 the throttle has been 100% fixed.

What I'm wondering is if that translates into being able to hold your speed on a slight incline on the highway by feathering the throttle or does the truck still have to jump down to 4th to maintain speed?

I also feel like 5th and 6th gears should be enough to handle a little extra throttle to slowly pass someone but I rarely get any speed increase from them. I keep pushing the gas pedal and the truck keeps ignoring me until it finally jumps down to 3rd or 4th which is not what I wanted.

I haven't had enough driving time with 1.02 on the highway, but initially I feel like it holds 5th better. Will report back later this week!

04B03 may or may not be on your ECU already. It depends on your service history. Ask them for the latest ECU update and they should either verify that you have B03 or they'll install B03 for you!

My 2017 has a 10/2016 build date. Never went to dealer since I bought it in 10/2016 and it came with 02

Just print out the TSB rev 1 and take it in with you. It's just a single update - 04B03 is the calibration ID of the ECU update they load to satisfy the TSB. If you had a bluetooth OBD adapter or something you can also read the calibration id to confirm which one you have.

    MT - 2017 Sport – stock except for a Cat back exhaust…… 101B and 102 ( 04B12 ) Built June 0217 ….. not many miles yet ( ~ 940 total ) and very few ( ~ 20 ) on the 102 tune . Rev hang … ? I’ve not seen this , with or without the tune. Been using 89 Octane. Will run the 87 tune when it's available.

This tune works well. 102 is better than 101B.

Still a very slight pedal lag @ low RPM ……. But, an extreme improvement over stock.

yeah, surprised you're running 89 given OPs comments around knock given the timing has been advanced specifically for higher octane. Perhaps you're at higher elev and that's why you ran lower octane than the tune was rated?

I’m more interested in improved drivability than peak HP / Performance. It ( the tune ) has accomplished this. I can hear no knock / pre ignition. The engine sounds the same as it did when “stock”. ( The exception being the exhaust ) Seldom go to WOT. It’s still a just a truck and that's how I drive it.

Been running 91 since day one in this truck, i'm not a fan of ethanol enriched 87 or 89. I have a crank sensor on order that should be here mid week. Hoping that cures the misfires.

You and me both - the power additions in 1.01b were welcome and needed, esp. the peppiness on the low-end. My primary reason for purchasing for my AT was to make it smooth and predictable without so much sloppiness on the low-end. OVs done well in that regard

Right but because you can't hear the knock doesn't mean the knock sensors aren't detecting it and pulling back on the truck, therefore limiting power.

You really need to run 91/93. @OVTune set your truck up to run with it.

Sub'd - I'd like to see how this tune corrects the issues with the 6 Speed A/T. If this doesn't correct the downshifting on the expressway for small inclines than I'm going to purchase the M/T. As you guys gather the miles with this tune please report back and let us know how this tune is doing for you!

Well, here is my first run with techstream. Those shift points look excellent for low speed! "D" mode only. I'll do some more runs, ill even do a few as people request data to be looked at.

    Enjoy!
