Ever since I replaced my front cv axles with knockoff ones, there has been a squeal up front where the outer cv knuckle and bearing meet. The squeal isn't from the splines, but the smooth metal parts that rub against each other. Squeal only appears at slow speeds like in driveways or parking lots. First tried adding generic red grease before sticking cv through hub, dried up after a month. Then I tried the high quality gray grease specially for cv's, and it lasted about 2 months before coming back. Is there something I'm missing here? Is there some kind of grommet supposed to go there, or am I using the wrong grease? It's very annoying pulling the suspension apart every few months

IMG_4729.jpg Smooth metal part that rubs against each other? Huh?

Are you talking about right where the cv meets the hub? There is one dust cover on the cv and one seal on the hub

My bad, it's some point of contact in between the cv and bearing, and it's not the splines. I tried greasing the hell out of them but it just dries up

You shouldn't have to be greasing anything
