Great whites really like the North Shore in the winter too LOL, although the waves are at the largest then.

The last couple years are the first ones that no one from my family has not lived in Fl. during the winter going back to my Great Grandma Thomas in the early 1930's. Nothing wrong with Florida. There was a time when people could afford 2 homes a winter and summer and drive back and forth between them. But if you really had money winter was in Florida and in summer Western North Carolina couldn't believe the number of Brevard County Fl. plates in Brevard NC when I lived there. And Hendersonville.

Times have changed and a lot of the people that drove that trip realized that North and South Carolina was about in the middle and a good compromise. So a lot live there all year now. They are called Half Backs. They made it half way back and never continued...

My mother is now in RTP area of NC with my youngest sister. Other 2 sisters will likely move to that area when the time comes. I will likely be up in the mountains around Western NC although it is 4 hours to the ocean there headed down the Saluda grade through SC. Humidity and heat is a lot lower in the summer in the mountains. Gets cold in the winter Dad always said too cold. Then again one of my neighbors was from Canada and retired there. He would come out to get his news paper in the morning with PJ's on and have a shit eating grin on his face in the winter and just stand there. Now I know why.

My company always has openings on the islands. But if you never lived on an island, you will find it very small, and get island fever and then want to go back to the mainland, that's why there are always openings. Island hopping gets old too. There are also lots of bugs. Lots and lots of bugs. And more bugs. And then more bugs. And gekos on the walls and snakes and rats and weasels all to eat the bugs.

:D j/k I actually have one as a backup that someone gave me when they moved to Az. The little SOB has some power to it much to my surprise. Wish he would have given me his huge snowblower instead but his son wanted it.

IIRC the max speed on Oahu was 40 mph at least last time I was there. And didn't take that long to see the whole island. Again. Same view as last week. And the week before that.

You forgot the LG Hawaiian cockroach, my brother has plenty of geckos and he leaves them alone as they eat other bugs

My brother has been there now over 2 yrs and likes living there . His job has him island hopping every week and the only thing he misses over there is good Mexican food

Yeah if you're over in Honolulu or Waikiki beach the H-1 fwy can resemble a parking lot but that's from tourists and locals using that fwy

Windward side has no traffic , it takes my brother under 30 min to commute ea way from Kailua to Waikiki beach ea day and that's 17 miles

He uses hwy 61 or the Pali hwy from his house to waikiki beach

Great whites don't bother me. I swim with them already on the Cape.

Flying, that's the problem. I had a bad experience...

    I suppose I could take a boat.

Had a Stihl 14" in my bucket as my truck didn't have hydraulics.
That saw was a little beast. Cut poles and trees with ease.
We couldn't use a gas saw in the bucket.
