There are off-brand spacers to be found on ebay, Amazon.ca .. some say custom machined - others call them China-cheap, that may or may not cause problems due to unknown metallurgic grade of aluminium that might be used .. or the studs may be of poor quality.

The off-brands are specifically made for Toyota products (IE Supra, Lexus LS series etc) sharing the same hub-center and stud pattern as the Tacoma 5-lug.

I picked up a set of the 1.5" off-brand through amazon.ca last fall - they look good to me, but the install shop won't touch them unless they are spidertrax, for reasons of liability. So, i ended up buying Spidertrax also.

There are no Spidertrax products made specifically for our 5-lugs, however, early 2000's Jeep Wrangler and Patriots (KJ and JK) share the same pattern for studs. They differ in centerbore size that can be compensated for with a hub centric adapter ring, and i'll be running imperial 1/2" tuner lugs, instead of Toyota's 12mmx1.5 metric lugs. I'm already running Jeep Liberty/Patriot 16x7" rims, so it'll work together fine.

I was due to have all this changed over this week - the shop has all my parts. However, i broke my shoulder and arm and am out of the running for driving for the next little while, so it's been put off.

@HackD Im thinking about running the dick cepek dc2 in a 16x8 on my truck. they have a -12 offset and 4in of backspacing. Im not sure if they will fit due to hitting the caliper. Im trying to figure out my bust option whether it be slide on spacers with longer studs, bolt on hubcentric spacers, or shaving my caliper a couple mm. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Right now I have stock 6 lug rims with 5 to 6 lug conversion spacers and my steering wheel vibrates horribly anywhere from 50 and up so I want to avoid having the same vibration issue.

@HackD do you know the bore size. I know the new rims have a 83.82mm bore. Not sure if I can even get slide on rings that would work

@HackD do you think they will fit with the given offset and backspacing?

I would go over to the 5-lug group on facebook and rattle their chains about your tire/rim/offset combination. My imminent end-goal is much more conservative, at an expected +4 offset, and the tall and skinny 235/85R16's on the 16x7"s.

I would also be suspicious about 6-5 lug conversion spacers - it might be an imbalance issue that is hard to work out - a conversion spacer is inherently asymmetric in terms of overall balance of it's mass - causing vibrations/out of balance issues. You could also be due up for new wheel bearings if you've been running the spacers for any period of time already. Spacers put increased stress/loading on the wheel bearings and will prematurely wear them out.

IMHO Don't run spacers. They're a ticking time bomb. If you want more stance, just do it properly and get a wheel with Backspace/Offset.

    Do you off-road? Please don't run spacers:facepalm:
    You a Mall-Crawler? Still don't run spacers:frusty:

I've personally had a tire fly off before from running spacers. It was my personal error though. IF you do decide to run spacers(DON'T), FOLLOW TORQUE SPECS.

I repeat, FOLLOW TORQUE SPEC, it is very easy to strip the nuts.

@SamGoingHam I agree Id rather not run spacers but I am having a hard time finding rims with a negative offset that will clear the brake caliper. Do you know if the dick cepek dc2 16x8 with a -12 offset and 4in of backspacing will fit? still new to configuring wheels

FWIW i did not have to run spacers at all with my 16x7 +40 offset wheels and 235/85R16's. The overall tire carcass width increase is sufficient enough to diminish the 'tucked in' appearance of both the 215/70R15 and 225/75R16. The truck looks much more balanced in terms of wheelset/body scale.
