getting rid of jbl system in truck. Changed deck out to pioneer 8201 will be doing door speakers and 4 channel amp to them. For sub i was looking at jl audio micro sub plus 8" ported with 250 watt amp on it. But then i see some prefab or mr marv boxes with slim 10" subs in them. Id like to keep rear seats but want a nice hip hop bass hit just not sure what would be best at producing deep bass in the double cab other than taking back seats out and going all out. Any thoughts. Thank you

I did a 5 channel alpine amp with Kicker front speakers but am waiting for Focals tomorrow for front speakers. Am using a Kicker compRT shallow 8" sub. Was very surprised how good 8 "'sub sounded

My plan it to run twin underseat 8" shallow subs, it isn't enough to get the ground shaking base of the big boxes, but it is enough to make the mirrors unusable and provide a healthy boost to the low end that is more capable than my ears. I did it in my last DCSB.

Give @Mr Marv a call. He can definitely help you out with sub and box selection.

I don't have pics of my old setup in my 03DC, and I haven't installed it yet in my 15DC. I should add I ran 1" seat risers in the rear of the front seats which improved seat position, and gave more room for the subs. I'm not sure if they are required to get the subs under there.

i have an 8200, 13TW5-2, Focal and all that. if you want it tight and clean it's a great choice. if your want deep low like hip hop, then i would go ported but there's very little room, and a small box don't get you what you want. a Tacoma is tough for deep low with any power. that's why i did the 13tw5, but it doesn't go as low as you describe and won't go in a ported box. i have my sub set on a high pass at about 28Hz to keep it clean, and with hip hop that will actually keep some bass notes from being reproduced.

IMG_1471.jpg This setup is from Mr Marv. I removed the plastic bins behind the seats. Sound deadening.

Ohh, hell yeah. I'm not done with my system yet, but these Focals made a hell of a difference.

Well sub box i need to think about some more. Just ran 12g speaker wire 2 runs in front door 1 run in rear doors. Got jl hd 600/4 mounted under seat image dynamics cxs165 components up front and id65 in rear doors. Only reason i tried the id speakers was they were open box and couldnt pass up the deal on them compared to the box being sealed lol but everything was in box. Xovers mounted on custom board under rear seat in the compartment under there.
So far i have 20 sheets of ram mat sound deadening in the doors but need to get more to cover the back wall.
Had local audio place go over the system the day after i got it all up and running. Synced speakers to verify in aligmnent put dd1 to set clipping and auto eq was used in the pioneer 8200 headunit. Gotta say its amazing what aftermarket 6.5 sound compared to the crappy jbl sustem that i had origionally.
I almost have as much bass in truck as i did with the 8 toyota put in there but the clarity of the system is unreal
Sub box will be up next but need more money lol

All you need is this. Definitely makes a difference in your bass. IMG_0382.jpgI managed to squeeze it into the extended cab of my 01. Of course after facing it upwards and losing over half my space back there
