My wife has a 2017 Highlander that is a lease. The dealership covers all maintenance for the period of the lease. She just hit around 5000 miles and was scheduled to go in for her first service/oil change.

Well got in there today and they did a tire rotation and told her they don't change the oil until 10,000 miles because they use synthetic.

Just wondering if thats good; I use mobile 1 synthetic in my 2010 Tacoma, but I still change it every 5,000 miles...I know I could go more than that but its just habit. But 10,000?

Or am I just getting old? I know it took a lot of convincing my dad that you could go up to 5,000 instead of changing at 3,000.

They have been doing this for years now, 10000 miles on full synthetic is an acceptable service interval.

If you plan on keeping it after the lease I would change it every 5k miles. If not then it's "not your problem"...
