What is the best way to restore a faded hood deflector?

Honestly, they're so cheap, I'd toss it and buy another one. Even if you were to restore it, it'll only last a few weeks.

Just toss it and don't replace it, they look retarded and do practically nothing.

    Hi Joe,

    Welcome in to TW brother!

I don't have a hood deflector but would think it would be rather difficult. I have similar plastic AVS side window deflectors and they were crap. Faded, shipped and not sure I could have done anything with them. I took them off and bought 2 fresh ones.

If it were me, I'd remove it and get a new one particularly if it were sitting up front like your bug shield. Treat yourself and your truck right!

    Post some pics and welcome!!

Asking in the detailing forum might get better answers

Would think that products used to polish things like headlights and convertible plastic windows would be good candidates.

On my 1 2002 Pre Runner DC my hood deflector is 15 yrs old and is still in pristine shape . I've been using plastic polish to keep it looking new

Not much you can do to fix faded plastic, but if it's just scratched up you can use PlastX polish with one of those 4" polishing kits for a drill from Harbor Freight.

If you get a new one, use aerospace 303 on it. It's like a sunscreen for stuff on your truck.

Spray on truck bedliner that's what I did to mine. Scuff it up with a scotch brite pad clean it off real good and spray on a thin coat let dry and repeat until its how you want it.
