Took a trip to the Eastern Sierras Labor Day weekend with my brother Chad and Kyle @Tacoma1192 .We went for 4 days.

Kyle should have some awesome drone footage to add to the report!

    Day 1:
Me and my bro left Thursday to get to our first stop at Funnel Lake in Coyote Flats.
    20170831_140751.jpg

You start climbing elevation real fast after at the start of the trail. Funnel Lake is up at 10,500
    IMG_0583.jpg IMG_0585.jpg IMG_0586.jpg IMG_0587.jpg

This area was actually a wrong turn that went to another Lake.
    IMG_0590.jpg IMG_0595.jpg
Trails all simple here from the areas we saw at least. Just have some rocky sections. Cool camping spots everywhere. We had perfect weather up their. Didn't see anybody that day or night.

Their was a great campsite next to Funnel Lake. I here a little disappointed that it looks kinda like a man made reservoir. lol.
    IMG_0635.jpg
So much driving today so now im ready to sit my fat ass down and drink.lol. This is the last pic I got of the night.

    So heres the crazy part!!:goingcrazy:
After perfect weather during the day. With sunset came some gnarly rain clouds. We set up my Ez up half way over the fire and half over us. Worked out perfect. Stayed completely dry After an hour of rain at 8:30pm the lightning and thunder started. And it sounded close. We had a 2 second thunder after flash. An hour later that shit was right over our heads.
We were in a full on fucking lightning storm!!! Couldnt help but laugh at our current situation. Luckily it stopped at about 11pm. Boy that was a hell of a show. We were pissed for forgetting to take pics. But honestly it was pretty scary.

    Day 2:
Woke up to clear skys a little hungover. Kyle was meeting us out here today so I was going to cruise back out to get cell service and confirm our location. Ran into a couple on the way out. Talked to em for a bit. They stayed in Bishop night before and when I told them we were here for the lightning storm that dude was cracking up:rofl:

    Day 3 and 4:

Next stop was up the 395 a little northwest of Mono Lake. Didn't take as many pics as I should've. First one I got was at the new campsite right on the edge of a awesome Lake. This is up at 10,300 ft.

Didnt fish on this one. You'd probably get some small brook trout out of these guys. That about all I heard about.

I'm always up for a trip like that, smaller groups you can get into more secluded areas easier! Anything like this comes up after January let me know. I'm pretty locked down until then :ballchain::pout:

I was up there the weekend before labor day, it was awesome. Also camped at funnel lake, almost exactly where you guys were. Fished, paddleboard, etc. Luckily no lightning storm haha

Do you have a name/coordinates of that second lake you guys went to on day 3-4? That looks like a nice lake to paddleboard/fish at.

The first lake is Funnel Lake. That is one of the jacked up roads. Baby head boulders the whole way from the turn off. I've heard they do not stock that with fish anymore. It was dry for a while before last seasons rain/snow fall. I headed back down to the valley the first time I was there due to incoming storms. Coyote Flats is a great place.

Just kidding...simple google check for starters...then lots of maps out there. Pick up a Benchmark Atlas and you will find more than you can run in a lifetime. Good stuff.
