LT, P-metric, or ISO-metric? If applicable, load rating number?

Also need the stock tire's size and/or load index as well as the psi on your door placard.

I'm going to assume they were a SL/110 load index. At 29 psi this gives a load rating of 2,149 lbs for P metric tires and 1,954(2,149÷1:1) lbs for LT tires.
Here's the thing about big volumous tires such as yours; 1,954 lbs is below what the load charts list. 35 psi gives a load rating of 2,105.
But, in the 35-45 psi range, 1 psi is about 40 lbs...so, at 32 psi, it should give you a load rating of about 1,985 lbs.

Seems right. Basically you need slightly more pressure to inflate a stronger tire to meet load ratings. That tire is capable of running 80psi for heavy loads, so youre basically running around 56% inflation. Your stock P tire max inflation is 51psi so at 29psi stock your are again 56% inflation.

And... it needs less pressure in a more volumous tire, all other things being equal; namely load index.

After reviewing this again; they also gave you the load rating of a P metric. The tire that comes on the 3rd gen Offroad is ISO metric. This gives a load rating of 2,149 lbs at 30 psi; not 2,234.
This gives a load requirement of 1,954 lbs for LT tires. An LT265/70/17 has a load rating of 1,964 lbs at 37 psi.
Sorry I missed that the first time.

    Looks like a 3 inch lift, P285 70 R17, BFG A/T KO2
This would give a nice comfortable ride. How would it affect fuel economy though?

Always ran mine at 35psi even though it said a lot more.
Also American tires recommend this psi as well.

The tires lasted 52,000k regular rotations and my truck is an every day driver

Just thought I'd throw this out.

    285 75 16a (E) on 8.5" wide rims.

Excellent wear, great ride, and all smiles at 32psi all around. Increasing wheel width over stock width rims helped several points regarding tires.

I,'ve had (C) rated 265s (Duratracs) that didn't ride as good.
