I recently traded in my 06 tundra and my 15 focus st to get my first tacoma. My wife had a gen 2 and loved it so I am trying the gen 3. This is my 2017 Tacoma 4x4 OR double cab build.
    I just broke 1000 miles
I have already tried the 4x4 twice nothing super deep just a little fun.

I plan on doing a small lift and tires in the future but I will wear out the stock tires first they have done well in the mud and in the rain so winter will be good to go. First I will be doing basic stuff so my build will be slow. Unlike my builds from before I had kids lol20170804_141234_HDR.jpg

Thank you I fell in love with this color. But I hated it on the tundra. I was surprised my wife liked the color thought for sure she would hate it.

Welcome another TW Texan. Nice pics. For your Temperature indicator seems that you're enjoying this local weather and your first 1K miles.

I added a set of infinity reference 6.5 inch speakers to my front doors. I actually bought them for the back doors but will use them till I have the money for the front speakers I want. The stock speakers in this truck are sad! If you are paying over 30k for a vehicle it should be mandatory to have a good sound system

Finally ordered the speakers to finish my stereo system. Doing just the front helped but wasn't enough. I will give a review once installed.

Lets start my first review. I started by ordering 6.5 infinity speakers. they had a good sale going so i ordered them first. I mounted them in the front door while i waited to order the correct size for the front. My next paycheck hit and i couldn't wait any longer, I ordered the Plug-N-Play tweater set from Amazon and a set of JBL GTO 6x9. The stock speakers in this truck SUCK! I did not get the JBL Toyota system but i still expect more from a system that is marketed as premium... after looking up the info on the better JBL system i am glad i didn't spend the money because it is still very low quality. Shame on you Toyota. So back to the point. I have now switched the JBL GTO in the front. The two speakers have similar clarity, if i had to pick i do think the Infinity still has better clarity. What the JBL is lacking is minor though and is easily made up for with base. Oh so much base! I had a 8in sub in my focus and it did not put out this much base. As far as the dash goes, removing the crap small mid speakers and putting in real tweeters fixes the staging of the sound and makes it much more accurate sound delivery. I did not order any of the wire adapters for the doors but i will say it would have made it much easier. i did however get a cheap adapter plate for the 6x9 off amazon and recommend it. It didn't fit the door perfect but i small screw into the sheet metal with a screw clip fixed that. The rear speakers I mounted in the original speaker housing[IMG]
It might not look pretty but it works
