Coachella Valley meetups and BS

I hit 2N61Y in big bear today, that trail was gnarly. definitely put my skill and the trucks capabilities to the test. was only able to complete 90% of the trail before i had turn around. the last part of the trail would definitely need a good spotter, sliders and winch just in case. didn't take pics of the last section but here's what i do have.

 

They are a typical failure point on Tacomas, 4Rs, FJ, and Tundra platforms (FJ and Tundra use larger ones as well as 3rd gen Tacomas).
The stock tabs are simply made from thick sheet metal stamped with a bend in them and spot welded in.

The reason they fail is generally due to having a the cam bolts loosened for any reason (usually alignment) and not tightened enough, after that they have a tendency to push the edges flat with lateral forces pushing the LCA in or out and blowing out the edges of the cam guides.

Total Chaos makes laser cut thick steel ones that will not bend or break since they are 20x stronger than stock. I have done about 30 of these, very common upgrade, they are very weak in stock form.

If any of you guys need suspension work, electrical or welding stuff, cam tabs, tower gussets, rear shock relocation, high clearance bumpers, etc.. lemme know, I do this stuff all day every day.

 

There's that shop up in Yucca Valley. They have a bad ass crawler out front... "Tire Pros" is the name I believe. They'll probably get it done right.

Haha ya sorry man. iv been trying to catch up on all the threads, been pulling 2 jobs since last week and trying to get the truck worked on too. Really looking forward to finally meeting alot of people out there.
