    Hey folks,

    BillinCT here.
    New to the forums.

I've got a long history with Toyota trucks (and cars).
Current daily driver is an '08 Tacoma base, 2wd 5 speed with the 2.7L.
Bought used in '11 with ~47k on it.
    I'm up to ~144k now.
With a 66 mile round trip commute, the 27 mpg I get ain't too bad.
It would be even better if CT didn't legislate sh!tty gas blends.
Just came back from a trip to TN, and the fill ups of real gas there made my mileage jump a bit.

While it's all the truck I need, it's not necessarily all the truck I want.
Would love to have a 4x4 again, and a crew cab too.

Previously, I've owned other Toyota trucks....
    My first truck was my Dad's '81 with a 22R & 5 speed.
She was red, with white mag wheels, chrome rear bumper and a cap. And a cassette deck. Looked sharp.
    Learned to drive on it.
Took it up to 222k before the frame rotted out too badly.

Then I had an '86 2wd truck I bought used from a house painter. Dark blue with multicolor paint splatter everywhere. Seem to recall it was a long bed (?).
My cousin rebuilt the 22R from the '81 and I dropped that in the '86 for a reason I don't fully recall. Mostly because I could I guess....
Sold that back to my cousin, and a friend of his crashed it.

Later, I had a '98 Tacoma ExtraCab 4x4. It was the 4 cylinder. Purple truck with matching Leer cap. I liked it, but not everyone did. 5 speed and a manual transfer case. Try to find that today.
I was a Postman in those years, and that truck got me to work and back in the worst of weather.
I sold that when a change of jobs came with a work van.

Gramps had an '84 Extra Cab 4x4 5 speed, and then later an '03 Extra cab 6 cylinder auto 4x4. Never got to drive his first gen, but I put some miles on his '03. Passed on buying it after he died however when we realized that mice had moved in while it was garaged.

Ok, having racked up a few miles on memory lane, I'm looking to maximize the miles left in the '08. Not opposed to minor mods or improvements that might keep from doing something stupid costly, like buying a new Colorado or Canyon. I will say the baby Duramax is tempting though.

    -Bill

I guess Gramps '84 is actually a second gen, but I still never got to drive it.
