Hi all, I just bought a jdm motor to drop into my sr5. It came out of a automatic car from Japan 64k miles. I'm wonder has anyone been through this and did you have problems with ecu if using original. My truck is manual tranny

a 5vz long block is a 5vz long block. There are a few sensor you need to reuse from the old motor to make sure it's compatible. I usually just swap all the sensors for good measure and keep "new" ones as spares. This minimizes diagnostic time if something doesn't work.

Appreciate it fellas! I do plan to use original throttle body and intake. I'll post again when I get it done. Thanks

Along with what others have mentioned and some subtle inconsequential internal changes, the 5vz came with and without an oil cooler. If going with the cooler make sure to use the correct water pump, it has an extra nipple for the coolant hose to the cooler. The cooler equipped block will also have a hose nipple to consider.

Well my swap is complete. I appreciate this forum, everything came together and truck is running good, just waiting on a new carrier bearing now. I was very hesitant about using the same oil cooler from old engine which has 2 thrown rods. But after attempting to clean it I saw no metals shavings or any debris and decided to use it
