Sorry to hear about the lost of your best friend.

I had a cocker spaniel that was just a little younger than yours. My mom called me one day to say she was taking her in for a check up since she wasn't eating much. Found out her kidneys were shutting down so we had no other choice than to put her to sleep rather than allow her to suffer.

My wife and I have three dogs now (two are rescues) and I dread when the day comes and it's their time.
