If you do decide to keep it, don't trust that it looks clean, its not. Disconnect the battery take everything out and look for drain plugs on floor of vehicle so you can flush it all out with clean water. I've had to drill a hole or two on some vehicle models and just plug them with a rubber plug, but there should be some on there.

The biggest issue most ppl have is when water gets into the fuel cell and they don't take it out and rinse/clean it out too. This may cause some drive-ability concerns for some time.
If the water gets to the top of the tank that can happen. After draining and drying well, water treatment should be added, and its a good idea to get some now, as some filling stations may have gotten some water in their tanks too, so you may want to add some according to instructions to every tank until the coast is clear.

Also any relays that got water should be replaced, this probably doesn't apply in your case, so you should be golden. We rescued a Ranger that was totaled with water up to the steering wheel and used it for errands and had zero issues for years. We did all of the above, plus replaced all the ecm(s).

Finding new carpets at first is not hard, but as claims and ppl R&R those, you can't get them so you need to move fast if you want new. But from my point of view, you don't need new, just new carpet jute, then clean, rinse well and dry.
In a massive event like this one there maybe serious lack of availability of replacements so you may have to make do with what you have.
There's also the real possibility that some insurance cos may fold or not be able to make everyone whole as it happened for hurricane Andrews in FL when many named brand Insurance chapters failed and people in the latter got left to fend for themselves. Let's hope this doesn't happen.

    Best of luck!

It sounds like a lot of work, but it's not that bad. You REALLY need to pull the seats, door sills and carpet and dry it out. Depending on what the carpet looks like, you can re-use or replace. Truck will be like new when done. No need to worry at all.

You might consider taking the opportunity to upgrade stereo or do some other work that would require this level of disassembly. Best of luck to you.

    Well, it's official.
One less TRD Pro on the road.

How high did the H2O get? It looks like it did not get to the bottom of the door...! What's the issue..?

If you look closely you can see the water line right around the 25-inch mark. High enough for brackish water to get into the cab, which is apparently an automatic total loss these days.

I suspect it still would have started, though I didn't try it per the insurance company's request. The electronics still lit up though when the key was in proximity. Unfortunately it took them so long to tow it away that mold had already started growing in the interior. Sad.

No, I'm afraid not. They gave me $44k for it. I figured I'd take what was left after the lien was paid off and put it towards an '18.

Too bad you didn't lift it a couple of inches or park it on some ramps. At least you and the family are safe. Stuff can be replaced. Hang in there.
