Disable Seatbelt Warning Chime

Hmm that's weird. You made sure to not press the brake at all and kept the button depressed while you buckled the seatbelt? I jacked it up the first time and took my finger off before clicking the belt and it didn't work

 

Couldn't you just locate a seat belt clip and clip it in to stop the chime?

 

Yea. Wondering if it's different for a manual trans. Wouldn't think so but idk

 

I use my seatbelt so that stops the chime. But sometimes I don't put it on immediately so as I'm backing out of the driveway, the idiotic thing is beeping at me. 9 slow beeps then 50 fast beeps.

It's now become a quest to find a way to turn it off. I could've believe the dealer wouldn't do it.

 

Leave your gas cap off until the check engine light comes on. Take the truck in to get scanned under warranty. slip the tech $20 to turn off the chime while he is already hooked up to your truck.

 

My seatbelt chime stops immediately after I fasten my seatbelt...strange!

 

Mine does the samething. Drives me crazy. I have a friend who said he got a clip from a wreaked Tacoma and clipped it in and it stopped the chime for like $5 bucks. Just passing on that to everyone else. Would suggest wearing the belt vs. not.

i wear my seat belt when im on the road. but when i am OFFROAD (25% of the time), it doesn't pay for me to wear a seat belt when im creeping through a field, or riding down the levee, or on trails and things of that nature. there has got to be a way to disable that chime without going to a dealership or buying a scanner. and someone on this forum knows exactly how to do it.

 

I buckle mine and just sit on it when froading most the time.
And wear mine just about all the time on the roads around here.
I just hate the long annoying beeps.
It would take a replace it with a speaker that did like the Macarena or something

This one worked for my 2011, but the previous way did not:

hey guys there was a thread disusing this a while back. I know it works on 2nd gens. I've copied the instructions

1) Turn the Car 'ON', but do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. Turn the ignition back off. Wait a couple of seconds.
2) Make sure seat belt is not fastened
3) Turn the ignition back on, do not start the car (Leave you foot off the break) As soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob and do a long 12 second count.
4) Keep your finger on the trip reset knob. Fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten your seat belt, you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that time take your finger off the trip reset knob and press it again. It should cycle to "b-off". You should be all set and turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt.

Tried several times.
It no work.

 

It's really pretty quick to disassemble the dash and remove the buzzer from the spedo board. I replaced all the orange LEDs with white while I was in there for a cleaner look.

Unfortunately, Photobucket ate the thread I used. If you have the dash PCB out, it's pretty obvious which component is the buzzer though, it's usually a black cylinder with a hole in the top.
