Thank you hiPSI and ak49watson for your rapid response. I was told by the dealer, at the time of my purchase, that the cooler was basically for the truck and its components--and not for the towing-weight. I know most transmissions, except for perhaps CVTs, can handle pulling some weight. Perhaps I am being too cautious, but at around $30k for a new truck, I would rather not replace a transmission unit.
As for the dipstick issue, I have seen a few videos posted on Youtube describing the incredibly arduous task of "checking" the fluid. In my previous vehicles (equipped with ATs), I would use the dipstick in engine compartment. Now I MUST slither around the ground, under the truck's engine compartment, trying to figure out where to look, just to check the fluid level. BTW, I wanted the manual transmission, but none were available at my trim level when I purchased this truck. Anyway, I am looking for a private mechanic. Besides, the dealer is too far (and I Do not trust them). Again, Thanks. James

Not sure I'd trust your dealer. If the cooler was only for the vehicle weight, why did they add it with the tow package? Not saying it can't be improved upon, but I wouldn't automatically discount it's value either. I'd say tow with your truck, monitor tranny temps, and then decide if you need more cooling.

The cooler is for the total possible GVW of the truck and anything it pulls.
