    hey all
I just bout an ‘06 Tacoma manual with 4x4 and when I test drove it, it went straight into 4Lo. Now, however, (a few weeks later) I can’t get it to go into 4Lo. It keeps flashing the 4Lo light and beeping at me. Has anyone else had this problem? Also, I don’t really have much money to spend on it...

Not sure on a manual but on the automatic you have to be stopped and in neutral, also maybe moving forward and backwards a couple inches might help?

@Stewbuff i tried all that stuff but I just kept on beeping... kinda annoyed actually. I’ve already dropped $1500 more into the truck that I thought I was going to have to. Don’t quite want to have to replace another part...

    Welcome to T. World.
If it switched and now it won't it won't engage even though you say you have tried moving back and forward, putting it in neutral, staying still, turning the wheel while moving while trying in forward and reverse and so on & so forth I would think that probably the actuator got stuck or is bad. The actuator getting stuck I don't know, if the person that had the four by four never used it at all then it possibly has gone bad because if you don't use it you will lose it.
    Good luck

Try depressing the clutch all the way. I couldn't move from 4hi-4lo because it would just flash and beep at me. One day a buddy told me to put the clutch in (while in neutral) and it worked. good luck OP

Manual needs clutch fully depresses, and not moving or moving much... then push and turn dial to L4. Same when going back into H4.
