My boy Simon is well known by name at our local lowes. He's never been to home depot since they have to be inside the cart and I'm not picking his fat butt up to put him inside one. However, he does get to go into (besides pet stores) tractor supply, gander mtn, hobby lobby, pat catans, and tours the outlet mall.

He's hopefully going to pass his temperament and CGC tests next month. We're hoping to get him certified as a therapy dog as well, but he's still all puppy at 1 1/2 years old.

 

Oh, believe me. I've brushed enough fur out of him to knit him a sweater. But I don't mind. It's relaxing to me and the dog both.

Scooter goes with me to the Wal-mart Super Center every Sunday to buy groceries. All the little kids get excited when the see him and parents are always like "No, no. He's working. Leave him alone." and then I embarass the parents by saying to the kids "Aw, did you want to pet the big puppy?" And then I let the kids pet him. Scooter eats it up.

Don't you just hit the reset button and let they system recalibrate?

 

Or you can rotate the tires and not the rims so the sensors stay put. That would explain the crazy charge.

 

Sam's still does it for free as part of buying tires from them. Huge motivator right there.

 

All that for about $3,000 USD. Not surprised though as most Free Staters that I met when I lived in South Africa were certified kooks. Dutch hard liners that missed the old orange policies of brutal treatment towards the indigenous.

 

Wait until you have to feed a teenager. Holy crap, they can put away groceries. I never appreciated how my mother kept me fed until I had one.

If you ever get tires or a battery there, it's best to get it on sale. Otherwise they aren't that much different than anyone else. Their sales can be really good, though. I'm considering Discount Tire for my next set (when these Toyos finally wear out) because Sam's is really proud of their KO2s.

 

Mid-to-late 2000's GM's were a pain in the butt for this. They'd flash on the dash and tell you which tire was low, which was convenient, but calibrating them was a real pain. You'd have to get the vehicle into 'learn' mode by applying the parking brake and holding the 'lock' and 'unlock' buttons on the key fob until the horn beeped twice. The vehicle would illuminate the turn signal light on the corner that was in learn mode (started at Driver's front). Then you'd let air out of the tire until the vehicle noticed the pressure difference and it would beep the horn once to let you know that it had logged the sensor's position. Then the Passenger front turn signal would light up, and you'd repeat the process all the way around the vehicle. When it had learned the last sensor it'd beep once to let you know that it had logged the sensor, then twice more to let you know that the new locations had been stored in the computer. THEN you had to go around and top the air pressures off again.

The advantage was that if you rotated your own tires you could do the relearn procedure yourself in the driveway, without buying any specialized tools/magnets. The downside was that it was time-consuming, which during the busy season was a real pain.
