So i have the 2016 Tacoma SR5, does it have a good air intake or should i get a new one? I've heard this is dumb for the TRD's because they already have a good one but what about mine?

Also can you guys name a few good ones and tell me why they're good? Wanted a closed box style with a dry filter because I've heard the open styles need a lot of maintenance. not really looking for louder or anything just better preforming if needed. Here's a photo of mine, the box is closed if you need me to open it so you can tell me what it is let me know. or if you just know that would be awesome haha.

    Thanks

Keep it stock as all those Aftermarket Cold Air Intakes do nothing but give you noise. Your truck comes with a Factory Cold Air Intake already and you will see no MPG, HP, or Performance Gains with an aftermarket intake system. Others will chime in saying they feel the difference, they increased gas mileage Blah Blah Blah. Put the money into something else like wheels, tires, lift, or seat covers.

    Yes

    No

Yours is the same w/o the sticker.

TRD (as in 'racing development') is meaningless branding on all parts other than the now defunct supercharger.

But you really should keep the debris cleaned off your cowl. It will cause problems if neglected.

You have the same one we all have.

I have the aFe, love the sound and look of it, butt dyno tells me it gave me
some low end oomph! either way, don't care. :D

There are tons of threads on this if you check the search function - those will
give you tons of opinions instead of waiting for replies here if you're looking for

Take a look at the picture you took. See where it draws air? In the fender, where it's fresh and cool. So yes, it's enclosed, it's cold and it's dry. Perfect! Best thing ever? It's cheap too!

One word on the general performance of intake filters: If Toyota (or any other OEM) could gain ANY power or efficiency by changing something as simple as the intake filter, they would do it in a heartbeat. They could save millions of dollars in R&D and even more millions in CAFE rules compliance. So in reality, those aftermarket CAI's only give you a different noise.

OP You might want to check out my thread. Ton of feedback on the issue. I opted out of removing the stock airbox, but grabbed a washable filter and the TRD cone piece that removes some restriction.

I have the K&N CAI, but took it off. It did sound better and what not, but I took it out and went to the K&N drop in filter using the factory setup instead. I still have the CAI if you want it. I am not using it. I do like the sound, but as far as power gains, ehh not sure it did anything.

I’ve got the aFe intake and love it. I’ll agree with the others that it doesn’t really do much for performance but it sure does make the engine sound beefy

I have the AF Dynamic Cold Air intake and happy with it. I wanted it to get rid of the resonator on the stock intake.
