Yea I've had a few sleep studies done. If you stop breathing it's sleep apnea. I'd go get it checked out; it could save your life

 

That's the conclusion I came to. Been putting off the sleep study. Not sure why. Have one scheduled for the 19th next month.

 

Getting the study done next month. I'm tired of being tired.

 

Truth, but the other is amazing and he is the one I work directly with/see every day. Just yesterday told me to take a nap for 1.5 hours because I looked tired. I'm actually planning a career change soon. Might get into firefighting or teaching.

 

Also, those who like Jerry Seinfeld, he had a new Netflix original special drop yesterday and another is coming soon.

It's fairly serious. The sleep study you can do at home, too. My dad has it, and it's a pain in the ass to deal with, but the alternative is death in your sleep or falling asleep behind the wheel or at some other time where it's tragically poor timing.

Can't recommend putting it off for too long. Friend of mine died last spring from it (undiagnosed), was otherwise doing better health wise than he'd been in a decade.

 

This. My wife hated her last job ADP. Now she's in medical device and in the operating room every day and she leaves the house with a fat ass smile excited to go to work. Love it.

I saw my doctor last week for my annual check up. When I he issued the referral for the sleep study he said it's rare a day goes by that he doesn't refer a sleep study. It's not uncommon for people to be super tired. It's like back pain...everyone gets it from time to time but some of us have it all the time.

I think I've had sleep issues for the past 10-12 years. Basically since I've been doing my current job.

 

Big difference between being super tired and not sleeping well, and having a disorder like sleep apnea.

It'd be like comparing a 3 day flu bug to an autoimmune disease.

Sleep studies are blanket referrals and aren't to be confused with the potential of having an actual serious health issue diagnosed.

Tired is tired, undiagnosed sleep apnea is heart attack, heart failure, stroke, brain damage, diabetes, etc,.

 

Thanks for the reminder. I almost had one scheduled, but life was too much of a shitshow. I need to make this a priority. Especially because my mom had it, I am convinced, and she died of Alzheimers.

But the study is the first step. There are times now I can feel my throat closing up as I fall asleep. Like my tonsils are sagging back into my throat.

 

Studies are the only way to know.

I just meant the throwing out of blanket referrals and diagnoses by doctors isn't exactly a surprise, or reason to ignore a referral. Every 10 year old with a heartbeat has ADD/ADHD, remember..

 

If you have a life changing event, you can add or remove someone after Open Enrollment. Wife getting a new job would qualify, I believe.
