Yea but its different because she works at a school district and they just started working. So there's a gap in her old job and current. Going to talk to HR about it today. We'll see how it goes

When you guys go camping what do you do about bear activity?

I recently moved from Utah and mostly camped south so I didn't have to deal with them. But here I can't avoid it. Last week I went camping at lake tahoe and around pollock pines. All spots were established sites with bear boxes to jam all of your stuff in. Those are nice and all, but I'd like to camp a little more remotely - probably still at established sites but no bear boxes.

I usually have two plano gear boxes, 12v fridge, and a yeti cooler. The yeti I'm not too worried as it's a beer only cooler so no weird smells. But the food is in the plano boxes and the fridge. I've read people putting blankets over things to kind of hide the obvious. I camp above all the gear in my rtt.

Backpacking I know how...string it up in a tree. But you can't really do that with coolers.

Does one just keep a clean site and put everything away before bed? Stash the gear boxes in the cab? Dark tint so they can't see in but I'm sure smells still escape.

I've always wondered the same, especially with a trasharoo on the back tire, but never had an encounter.

I caught a bear once looking in my windows. I really wasn't comfortable with that so I added a second layer of film the week after.

I've still had the same issue, admittedly, but they move along quickly when they can't see inside as easily.

I've camped at this same semi- remote spot in Bear Valley for 24 years. I've never seen a bear. Probably dumb luck, but dogs are usually a good deterrent. @jberry813 posted a pic of a bear that Luna chased up a tree. Supposedly black bears are pussies. Not as bad as pandas, but not like grizzlys.

In Yosemite they advise never to leave your food in the car. In Yellowstone, they tell you to lock your food in the car. Google search results were debatable.

Maybe what the bear saw made it move on? :jerkoff:

Definitely going to ditch the camper and sleep on a cot in the open now...
    ;)

    Who's Phil Jones?
