Got commissioned in the Navy Friday, bought a Tacoma the following Monday. 2017 4x4 SR5. Its all stock currently. Looking to get some modifications going. Would like to start with a lift. Not sure what's best 3" or the 4". Changing out the tires and rims for off-roading. Get a bull bar for the front and tool box in the back. Just looking for some suggestions. This is pretty much new ground for me. Any input or good places to start searching would be much appreciated.

    PICS or it didnt happen!

Also, if you have the money, I would skip the bull bar and go for a bumper instead! If I were you I would stick with 3' or below. The higher you go the more you put unneeded stress on your components. Plus, you can do as much or more with a 2.5-3' lift than you can with a 4-6'. What types of lifts, wheels, and tires are you looking at?

Spend some time on this site looking around at what you like and ask some questions about it before you pull the trigger. You can spend as much or as little as you want on wheels, tires, and lifts, but most of the time you get what you pay for with these trucks.

    My personal preferences though:

    SEMA TRD Pro wheels
Nitto Terra Grappler tires (Its my DD so I cant have anything too aggressive.)
    Icons all around
    Total Chaos UCA's
    SOS off road concepts sliders

its gonna set you back a few but its gonna set you up nice too for a long future of fun!

Welcome to tw. Congrats on the truck. Hope you enjoy the Navy as much as I did. Bought my first toyota sr5 extend cab in Guam in 1985 while I was stationed there. Still have that truck.
