You really should check with the specific agency or ranger district. Bears here show vastly different ranges of behavior depending on location down to the watershed at times. Good information and good sanitation are key. Do all you can to reduce temptation. Odors are the start of it all. Camouflage may help with larger items in some areas that lack bear boxes. In Yosemite, they are no-shit relentless, and may even install a supercharger on your truck before they hotwire it and steal everything you have, including your family.

 

Just got back from an East Bay run. Condolences and best wishes to the blacked out Xterra that hit the wall right in front of me on Hwy 4 in Antioch. Car drifted into his lane, he jerked left and overreacted right. Hit the wall dead on perpendicular hard enough to bounce about 6 feet straight up in the air before he spun back into traffic. The sound alone still makes me cringe. Wish I had a dash cam...



Also anyone good with web/graphic design? We need some simple work (I think) done to our website and brochure. I would be happy to fairly compensate...

So I guess it sounds like it doesn't matter. Don't hang meat from your tent/truck and that's about it.

Maybe I'll put the food and stuff in the cab. Leave the two coolers in the bed. With a sign that says no bears allowed.

those signs only work in CA. Any other state the bears dont follow the law.
