That would be a bummer, I would think Toyota would increase production due to the demand but who knows..

THIS IS KILLING ME!!!! I need to place an order for a 2018 Taco if it has better configurations then the 2017 (and powerseats would be nice)

am I the only one who would prefer a 4runner if they offered a manual?

I would love to see a 4Runner with the manual transmission. The sad reality is that the take rate wouldn't be high enough to justify the development cost. Hell, I read somewhere that only 5% of Tacoma's are sold with the 6MT. You have to think about how many people are coming from a 6MT 2nd Gen to this as well. I'd have to imagine that account for at least 2-3% of that figure.

Also, I completely agree on this delay. I'm waiting to place my order since I'd like to see what the changes look like. According to my dealer, if I place an order now, it will come in as an 18 with the equivalent package. I'm just hesitant to trust them on that. :gossip:

The complete lack of any real info on the new 2018s is getting irritating! Starting to think they're hiding something and it may not be all that great. Really want one but starting to feel I should look elsewhere :/

Pretty much all the info is already in these Threads, Safety Sense stuff will be added, a couple color changes, available leather and they start production in mid November and arrive at the Dealers in early December

I think the delay is in regards to incorporating Safety Sense. I hope they are also utilizing the time to work on the current Gen 3 kinks. But who knows???

@shakerhood yeah I've been following this thread as a guest. Just joined yesterday. Hadn't seen the release in early December though. That's terrible! Way to torture us.

I do agree. I think the delay is safety sense and maybe some other issues. I think with safety sense it may have required additional changes to the Tacoma in order to make it work. Although the 3rd gen was likely designed knowing safety sense was on the horizon. But again who knows?!

Toyota is cutting it close though. With this delay they might as well launch it as a 2019 model.

Toyota is not trying to torture anyone. That Corporation is a business and making profit is bottom line.

There is a reason that is delaying the launch, and I would guess it is a very good reason.

Maybe safety sense, but the truck was probably built knowing it would be incorporated into the structure while the 3rd gen was in development.

Who knows why? Top management of Toyota knows, but they aren't saying.

    Anticipation.....

When I bought my Pro Grille it already had a section for that Safety Sense stuff so it seems like they knew they were going to add it. Maybe they are having reliability issues during testing.

That would make sense. These things are planned so far in advanced. Could be issues coming up during testing...
