Are there any CAI kits out there that are CARB legal?

Pretty sure K&N is. Buy their kit and swap out the filter for an aem dry flow.

Or just do a air box mod and save yourself the expense while learning something new

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
That was common in 1st gens which he has.

Cold air intakes are worthless. Save your money.

Looks like K&N isn't CARB legal either.

Isn't it called a deck plate mod still?

Just get a snorkel...that becomes the ultimate CAI and ram air in one.

I just realized a 50-state cold air intake is the very same one that came with the truck

Not true...Measuring with my Scangauge 2. On the stock intake it was 8-10 degrees hotter then the ambient temperature even while going 50+ mph. With the snorkel I was 1-2 degrees from ambient temperature at 5o+ mph. I take what the TW bandwagon "stock intake is CAI" with a grain of salt.

Compare it to engine bay temp and a not-cold-air. You'll change your mind.

By definition cold air means the primary intake location is out of the engine bay. Because of piping and such a cold air is often anti- RAM in most cases.

Factory intake is inside the wheel well. It's hot because it's close to the tire and road.

I still don't agree I had the AFE Stage 2 SI with a Volant ram air:

It's great and all but the loud noise it makes bothers me 5 years later... must be getting old.

Love the snorkel and how quiet it is compared to the AFE CAI with the Volant ram air.

Like you said factory intake isn't a cold air intake hence the myth lot of people claim it's a factory CAI when it's not.

Nice! I never see other Silver Sky's with the pro grille. I've actually been looking at the aFe stage 2 SI dry w/o a RAM scoop. Not sure what I want to do I may go Volant instead
