I don't need the exact kit cause I'll have different intercooler and exhaust piping. But turbo, intercooler, wastegate, manifold should all be the same.

I'm excited to have such a well known builder helping me on this and pointing me in all the right directions

The 6266 turbo, is my truck's "small" turbo.

A lot of the components in that turbo kit were used on a Supra build, for MotoIQ. Turned out very well.

I recommend the oil pump upgrade. They detail it in the article, if you'd like me to find it?

I'm gonna stick with stock components at the moment. Will do headgasket and headstuds to bump the compression down for boost but that's basically it.

I don't really know 2j's so this is gonna be a learning experience.

On that point , the guy helping me is very known in the Supra world so I'm trusting his input and advice rather than stepping over and doing what others say I need. In a non rude manner too by the way.

Ima go for 450-500 after boosted and then will just upgrade around the engine to get everything else dialed in.

After that, I'll start bumping up the boost and start getting into more of the stuff like oil pump, rods, rings, head, etc.

Not real sure. It was a old wood shop so it burned down in like 10 minutes once it started burning. Nothing to do but rebuild.

Eventually I'll go all out. Like 90mm turbo, bottom end, nitrous, etc. but that's a long long ways away and by then I'll have to find a new shell to put it all in cause it'll rip this old truck in half lol

Well I'm doing the same swap into an 07... I wish I had your builder local to me to ask questions too, because I sure do have a few. Look into the gtx3582r turbo it should bring your spool down about 500rpm and capable of 700hp, the kit is too pricy for me so I'm piecing mine together... I can post more details later if your interested?

    Summary of my thoughts,
Engine - 2jz-geT (rebuilt with gte internals)
    Trans - Modified r155f
    Rear axle - ?
ECM - Aem v2 (should work)
    BOV - HKS SSQS
    Waste Gate - ?
    Intercooler - Treadstone 1035
Turbo - Gtx3582r (if funds are available )
Drive by wire conversion - ?
    Injectors - 750cc
    Coils - ?
    Tuner - ?
    Fuel Pump -?

r154 is a popular trans among 2jz's and the 4cyl tacomas come with its cousin the r155f. Further research shows the r154 input shaft fits into an r155f and now you have a 4x4 r154. Only other difference between the two is the r155 has no 1st gear thrust washer and the gears are slightly thicker than the r154, in my mind these are both benefits. Take the bell housing and flywheel from a 1jz and a r154 clutch kit and now you have a 2jz bolted into the factory drive line. Make custom motor mounts and bam engine is in, Im custom making my down pipe and boost tubes, a treadstone 1035 intercooler will fit upfront nicely and a HKS ssqs BOV should be large enough for my plans. Once everything is routed and fits then the hardest part of the swap is the wiring, and that is the only part of the swap that I am unsure about.

    It's in. Kinda.

Got it sitting on jackstands right now but this is basically where the motor and trans is gonna stay. Gotta try to measure for mounts tomorrow. Butttttt I'm content.

Yes the truck is old and crusty lol. It was $200. This is straight up sleeper/farmtruck style build so ignore that

I freakin love it... But you have way more patients than me. There were like 100 ligament times myself or my buddy had to talk me out of running my crossover or down pipe out my hood haha.

One of my favorite things about supras is the huge fireballs out the exhaust when hitting 2step. The fart cannons and everything. Fucking love it.

Sooo I'm not gonna have a 2jz and not shoot fireballs

My friend wants me to do fender dump but I want to run it all the way out the back

But if there's no room then there's no room and it'll have to get dumped wherever it fits lol

In the meantime... the gf is on a trip to Mexico visiting family and told me to babysit and be on point with everything.

Then she told me to send plenty pics of me and the kids(the dogs)

This was the first of many that's gonna be sent to her while she's gone

But no gf also means more time to work on swap :burnrubber:

And yes this was random lol this is a build thread but it can also be a bullshit thread

It's just not gonna fit. Even if I cut the tunnel and goto a rear sump and push the engine back, there's no room for the turbo , intercooler and radiator. Ima have to find a 85+ pickup and use that for a shell.

They said the 85+ have bigger engine bays and more room. Wider frame too.

Which also explains why they make swap kits for the 85+ and not the early 80s models. This build is still gonna continue! I just have to find a new roller.
