Does anyone know the size of the cap nut that attaches to the end of the long bolt on a Traction Jack? I need to replace mine as it fell off by itself (never used). I tried emailing and calling (and social media, just now) Traction Jack but I cannot get a hold of them.

The largest size my local Home Depot has is 12mm, but that was too small. Which means I need to order one and in that case I do not want to have to order several different sizes just to hope that I get lucky.

After some trial and error making several trips to Home Depot, I can answer this question now. The cap nut is 1/2" (inside diameter). Sadly the company (Traction Jack) was of no help, despite numerous emails, phone calls, and I even tried social media.

Has anybody used loading ramps for traction devices. Seems a lot stronger.

I'm leaning towards the MAXSA since they are cheaper, and the longest. I'm going to try mounting them to an OEM roof rack which has about a 43in gab between crossbars if I measured correctly. Any body done this and have recommendations on hardware?

Next time you are doing something like that just bring the part to the store. ;)

    I did :)

1st trip their largest nut wasn't large enough. So I ordered online and had it shipped to the store (since that's a free option). 2nd trip the larger size I ordered was spot on (educated guess).

Here's the kicker. Traction Jack finally replied to me and told me they sent me a free replacement nut (covered under warranty). I never received it. Then they said they sent me another one. I never received it. I confirmed I did not make a mistake in the address I gave them. I still have never received that replacement nut, nor do they reply to me anymore. Sigh...

The same shit everyone else has.
I came on this thread to ask about these actually. I was wondering the same...

In 4+ years, Ive never needed these but would like to have a set "just in case". Ive found reviews online and they seem to work as advertised.

Can anyone vouch for these? For under 100$ they fit my budget very well if they are built well.

I have MAXSA boards. Beware that the nubs on these are quite fat and do not fit in the tread pattern of some all terrain tires (Hankook in this case). Tried to get a Ford Raptor out of the mud yesterday and the tires just spin against the boards. Never got a bite at all. I'm either going to return them or modify them by putting nuts and bolts sticking up through the nubs.
