Actually need about a dozen or so to help keep the weeds down here. Dat one badass goat!

Put a diesel in that Landrover, I'd give it some thought too. No, it's gotta have the 500HP V8 that gets 15mpg. I want the 500lb.ft. diesel that gets 30mpg.

Now, you can finally get the diesel in the regular Discovery though . . . set of Terra Grapplers . . . of course, I wouldn't have those impressive orange trim elements though . . .

Omfg that was torture watching the goat climb up the same rock like 40 different times with like 5 different angles. I thought either it was a joke or I took acid and was time warping back and forth.

Edit: the second trailer is better but my god if that isn’t the most millennial 4WD vehicle I’ve ever seen, complete with roof light pods. Looks like a Jeep Renegade with expensive taste.

Um, based on what exactly? Series II jungle runners are not remotely even the same class of vehicle. A Discovery isn't a Jeep Wrangler either.

If you are going to actually buy a $65-70K luxury SUV and go beat it to death, perhaps true. I would agree that the Discovery is more of a Volvo XC90 - Landrover vehicle, which would suit the wife just fine, I am completely confident it will WAY more than go anywhere we would take it at our age. I know from personal experience at Moab and Ouray that a Porsche Cayenne diesel with Terra Grapplers, 4 corner air, locking diffs, and under body armor will more than go anywhere a Jeep Grand Cherokee will go and this Discovery is spec'd to do more than either. I personally would prefer the LR Sport but they are $10K more equally equipped. Ah, I miss this ole girl . . .

The goat was just there to make us believe that there wasn't a road nearby for the Land Rover to drive up there.

All I want to know is why this PoS gets a 500HP V8 but more capable vehicles don't.

This ad targets people who will never, ever actually go off-road for real. This will be some rich prick's grocery getter (or his/her trust fund child's).

The scenery in the videos was beautiful though.

Though this was supposed to be about getting a dozen goats . . .

You guys really need to define what "more capable" means? Yes, this is not a rock crawler, but neither is a Grand Cherokee, or a VW Touareg and Cayenne both of which I was fortunate enough to own before I got sick. Though it is true that most people that buy these never even get them dirty, most people that trick out their Tacomas don't either. I've had my Touareg and Cayenne across Hurricane and Imogene Passes near Ouray [I've got a pic of Imogene too somewhere] as well as many other places you do NOT take a Lexus. Since I've actually been on them, that Discovery will do just fine on these trails here too and all but the worst at Moab. Or, I just sent off for a mail order picture of a shot up sign of Hurricane Pass . . . you decide!

450lb.ft. of diesel torque [and performance tunes are available too push it over 500] in the regular Discovery, locking diffs, 4 corner air, under body armor, "with appropriate shoes on it" will go anywhere I would ever need to go including anywhere all but the more tricked out Tacomas are going to go. I say that because I've actually done it! Climbed a hill in my Touareg that a tricked out 4Runner couldn't . . . and then busted my RF foglight when I teetered down over the top. But I made it and lived to tell about it.

I "think" lowering the Landrover down that incline is intended to show the capability of the rear winch for an added layer of safety. Not that the Discovery is more capable because it was winched down a hill . . . but that's just me.

Or, anyone that can afford a luxury SUV is just an asshole . . . if that is the "real" argument here, I can't help ya!
