Well I've post a lot about power gains and now we can finally reflash the ecu and change the factory setting...

Most tuner cars can pick up 30-50 rear wheel hp with an intake, exhaust and tune with smaller engines.

Now we can finally fix the Toyota's choke point, the ecu...

So far the tune is working real good.
The first flash we made some wrong adjustment and had to adjust it..

Now we have a good tune in it, I had to stick to stock shift points for now.
I can say with the flash, intake and electric fan the truck had much more power at the dunes than last year. Once in the power I could easily climb the dunes as long as I'm in open loop..

Also with the tune and electric fan the truck will stay in closed loop while driving and my mileage when up 3 MPG........... And enough cruising power to counter the 33" tires...

Still a work in progress but definitely unlocking some power and fixing the stock tune..

    Steps are:
    1. email a pic of your ecu
    2. place an order for bench flash to unlock the ECU
    3. send in your ecu
    4. send info on what changes you want and mods are done
    5. they will return the ecu in about a week or 2
    6. install ecu and drive
    And that's it....
Now if you have changed the intake it may take further tuning to dial in the intake.
They don't have all the intakes dynoed yet but at lest now we can rewrite the ECU to allow the ecu to adjust for modifications.

If you need to reflash they may have a limited number of flash cables.

But so far they have been very easy to work with and reasonably quick....

Curious if they can work with a TRD Supercharger flashed ECU and reflash for a better turn that's not as rich/conservative as TRD made it. Would be nice to do that and then add aftermarket tuning (such as UCON) at a later date for finer tuning.

You can get TRD tune flashed if you send just the ECU to them. I think they can adjust it too.

Mine TRD tune (not OVT's) was very lean (with 2gen TRD CAI), LTFT 22%. With Unichip map for non-reflashed ECU it was ok with TRD SC.

I don't know if they have ran a supercharged tacoma on the dyno, but yes they would be able to fix the factory settings.
I think they are fully unlocking the ECU which would mean they have access to all the maps in the ECU.
So if you send they a list of what you want done it will help them set up a tune.

They can adjust things like; fuel, timing, open loop transition, cam timing, torque maps and more.
But for now it's a bench tune, so they are making general adjustments that work good.

Good news is the have unlocked the computer, bad news is it's a work in progress till they build all the maps.

They may be making the tuning software available so we could do the final tuning ourselves.
I don't know if this will be standard option or limited use.

But if they offer tuning software they won't need to run every combination on the dyno, which would be very time consuming.

So far we have a good base tune but have to fine tune for the intake, so for now I'm using my unichip to calibrate the MAF sensor.

Solid pass. Would need word from OVT if they can even do anything with the TRD Reflashed ECU, since most places say once it's reflashed you're done. But also not guinea pigging a tune that could potentially grenade the engine lol. Would rather use UCON with more guardian features if it leans out to much

    sub'd as a mofo!

I did send them an email weeks ago when they first popped up here... never heard back. :notsure: I'll try them again though and see if they can work with us TRD s/c'd guys. Problem is, I dont know what I want (minus the obvious fix for the TRD tune running rich AF), and not sure how/if my modifications come into play. Guess I could just send them the pic, tell them what I have, and go from there.. I would like if there was a user tuning option.. so I could play with it and not have all the downtime.

OVT is working on 2nd gen parts now.

I believe they are working on a hand held tuner with preset maps and a self tune software option...

I'm excited to see what they come up with, the bench tune works good, fixed the mpg and more power not bad for a just a bench tune.

Now they are refining the tunes.

They may need a volunteer to get their supercharged truck reflashed and dyno tuned... I'm assuming at a good deal....

Another great option is a MTX-L AFR gauge linked to a OT-2.
OT-2 links to the OBD port
OT-2 Links to your smartphone with Wifi.
Smartphone can record, view engine parameters.
Its a less intrusive / more permanent option for folks who want to view and confirm engine diagnostics frequently
I am N/A, but pretty sure it can monitor boost as well with the right hardware.
