Take your time and it'll hold up as good as factory paint. Mine is still in excellent condition.

When I put on the clear it orange peeled. I went back and wet sanded until I got 95% of the peel out. I'll reclearcoat this coming weekend if weather permits.

I just looked at the date I originally posted this...damn time goes by fast lol.

Anyway, in 4.5 years, the grill still looks great. It's has a couple rock chips from all of the highway driving, but those are unavoidable. Take your time, prep it accordingly and it'll last a very long time :)

My attempt. Hopefully it comes out decent. Trying my best to follow the instructions off the OP. If money were no object (and I was not paying truck notes ) I would have bought a color matched grille, but for now this will do! lol

After you wet sanded the primer and paint did you wipe it down with any prepsol or did you just apply the paint?

I did not wipe it w/ prep-sol between coats of paint and primer. Only initially to clean the surface.

Surprisingly well @EatSleepTacos ...There's no peeling, or strange signs of wear. Just some chips...albeit, probably more than would've been had it been an oem painted grill from the factory.
In the past 7 years I've probably added 75k miles to the truck with a lot of road trip miles logged. It's been beat up from highway use, but so has the bumper, fog lights, and headlights.
I'll snap a picture today and post it.
So is it showing signs of age and use? Yes. But for the record, I would do this process every time compared to buying a new piece.
