I have owned the following trucks in the last 7 years.... Tacoma is my favorite I prefer not to get rid of it.

    2010 Ford F-150 5.4
    2011 Ford F-150 Ecoboost
    2011 Ford F-150 6.2
    2013 Ford F-150 5.0
    2006 Ram 2500 Megacab 5.9
    2015 Ford F-150 ecoboost
    2016 Ram 1500 ecodiesel

And now the taco... I’m just not read to go back to a full-size

honestly I liked each of them, yes they all had their flaws but I will say the EcoDiesel was my second favorite followed by the EcoBoost and the 5.9, But I am a new car snob... also had a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2016 WRX mixed in there lol

Well I went and hauled the camper I am looking at buying yesterday it is, 4,740lbs dry, The taco did ok on flat grounds and the sweet spot seems to be 45-55mph it could hold 60-63mph ok on the highway but anything over that and any kind of hill its in 3rd at 4K RPMS...A little worried. May be time for a tundra.

Yup get the Tundra. It's a great truck! It will also out pull most 3/4 tons, so you can get whatever camper you want.
The funny part is, most people that have owned Tacoma's end up getting a Tacoma again :).
    It's just $$$$
Have you thought of re gearing?

If he regears, he's going to be in the same RPM range, just at a higher gear, right?

He'd need a SC in order to improve low end performance to keep him in the higher gears.

Took my jeep to 4:88 it pulled hills better and pulled camp trailer better. Not to mention it handled my 37" much better. It has the penstar motor.
While I have a RIPP in my 15 the 12 did not have a SC.
And since there isn't one available right now for the G3's I think the gearing would help along with a chip to get everything in "tune".
Could be wrong, just was my expeariance with jeep.
I'm pulling a camper that's lighter my a bit then OP. Have zero problems. Only mod's are SSP and Pedal Comander.
As mentioned on steep grades I'm in right lanes but not lugging to bad.

I have thought about Gears, but if I am dumping a lot of money into it, I'd rather just get a full size truck. I am thinking about a tune for now. What are yalls thoughts?

Everything I've read says a tune is a waste of money unless you have a blower. Unfortunately dyno numbers are probably pretty limited for the 3rd gens too.

Hmmm, well on the 3rd gen forum people are loving the OV tune a lot are saying it makes a huge difference and the new tranny tune is supposed to come out soon. Not sure if you have driven one or not but this tranny shifting is crazy!!!

Ah....I didn't consider reprogramming the transmission a tune. No experience with the OV tune but in general a tune doesn't give up much additional performance on a NA vehicle and looking at the dyno charts in the OV thread that seems like a fair statement. If it can move the power lower on the 3rd gen that'd probably make a big difference but again, I'm not seeing much in the way of dyno numbers to support that.

The specs say the trailer weights 4,750 lbs dry and has a max weight of 7,365 lbs. How does it tow?
