That's the only thing I couldn't get to work. I just used the Kenwood mic and attached it to my A-pillar. Based on feedback from my wife, it works better than the OE one.

Looks like I'll have to do the same, I'm going to try and extend the wires to mount it in the factory location.

    Appreciate the reply!

I spoke to tech support at iDatalink and the maestro RR doesn't retain the Tacoma factory mike, so you will need to use the one provided by Kenwood

Think I found the issue, stereo and harness was bought used from Tundra, looks like they use TO2 instead of TO1 so looks like the TO2 is missing a connection for rear speakers

Getting ready to install a new stereo in my truck.

Can someone give me the list of gauges (options) the Maestro is capable of displaying. Such as trans temp, a/f ration, coolant temp, etc.

I have tried a couple times and can't find them listing anything other than "performance gauges".

Sorry for the threadjack, but does anyone know why is this such an issue for most integrations (Not just in Tacomas, but other vehicles as well)? The factory mic is literally just a circuit.

I used the factory microphone with my Maestro install. The cable is right behind the stock radio. Mine was wire tied to the metal tube back there. I found the plug connected into the factory bluetooth box. Which I also disconnected and removed.

It was easy I just used the mic plug from the Pioneer 4200NEX and soldered it to the factory mic wire. No crazy wires to route through the A-pillar or and extra mic in the visor.

Does that head unit display outside temperature at all through the truck's systems or via any other source from within the headunit itself?

Finally have all the parts ordered. Going to install my new Kenwood HU DDX594 with the idatalink . This thread has been very informative. I am still on the fence using the kenwood mic (better clarity) or splicing in to the current stock mic and just being lazy

Kinda. Mine has intake air temp which gives me a ballpark of what's going on. My mirror has the OAT. This system Rocks once you get it going.

The factory mic has worked good for me with phone calls and using Siri via Carplay. I think its mounted in the right place for optimum voice recognition. Plus I cut out 10ft of stock wiring so that should help with the signal transmission.

Rjm... do you have a diagram or pics of what you did for the factory mic retention?
    Thanks

Its super easy just cut and strip the stock mic wire and then do the same for the jack side of the new mic. Once stripped solder the 2 ends and cover with black electrical tape or heat shrink. See pic below.

I don’t remeber seeing the stock mic wire when I did my stereo install. I know I disconnected everything.

Mine was wire tied to the steel support tube behind the stock radio. It was easy to spot since there were 10 windings coiled up and wire tied to the tube. It was connected to the Bluetooth handsfree box hidden where the arrow is pointing below.
