I've been running beads on Maxxis Bighorn MT-762 255 85 16 for about 18,000 miles. So far so good.

I ran the MasterCraft axt on my tundra. They were fantastic tires, and actually quite cheap.

I really like this tire size but the lack of all terrain options makes me want to go a differant size. As much as I off road I can't really justify a mud terrain due to all the highway miles I travel to get to the off road bits.

Never ran them myself, but the number of people who rave about the ST Maxx is impressive. If I wanted this size in an AT, I certainly would give them a try.

Great suggestion! This might be just the tire I'm looking for.

The S/T Maxx is an aggressive all terrain, but not quite in mud terrain territory. So it might be better on gas than true mud terrain alternatives.

That's kinda what I'm looking for. I currently have Maxxis Bighorns in 255 85 16. They're a great off road tire..although they wore out kinda fast, but what can I expect from a cheaper mud terrain. I did have a time in Baja last year where we got caught in a rain storm and the clay turned to peanut butter. We would have had to wait a day to get out with all terrains. The mud terrains did well in the mud. Other than that I think an all terrain would have been better for my needs.

Also, the coopers are pretty light.

If you can't find the cooper ST MAXX, the Mastercraft CXT is pretty much the same tire. Cooper makes them. I just posted a link in here yesterday.

Mileage was always a bummer... The reason was a guy I worked with always wanted the truck, and one day he told me to give him a price. 3 days later he drove it home. I still miss that truck.

Well the 255 85 16 Dick Cepek's have been out for a while now. Who has them and how are they doing? The lighter weight sounds real good on paper but how is the gas millage? Better than the ST Maxx thats 10 lbs heavier? Is anybody having any problems with the tires? And how about the Toyo AT2, 255 80 17? Anybody get ahold of those yet?

I did on my second gen for about a month before I got my lift on.

They rubbed turning under any amount of compression. But it was tolerable while waiting for leaf springs to come in.

I would not recommend this tire size without a lift or serious trimming. Very satisfied with the size and BFG’s overall.

2013 TRD OR no lift 255’s

I have them and love them so far. Slightly noisier than the Duratracs they replaced. Balanced out great, and have worked well for the limited off-roading I have done. Gas mileage hit is hard to tell, will know more when hunting season starts and I really start driving the truck. I did get over 300 miles on my last tank though.

So I really want to get a set of 255 85 16s on my 2016 4 cylinder 5 speed but really worried about how much it will bog it down with stock gears. Currently running 265 75 16 duratracs, would like a 255 85 16 st Maxx or mastercraft cxt, is there a big difference between the two? And any input on guys with 4 cylinders in here?

I stayed with the 265 just for that reason.
My 2nd gen 2.7 5spd 4.10's is a dog as is, and I didn't want to kill it.
Maybe the 3rd gens have more power Idk...
I'll go up a tire size when I do 488's and lockers. I don't look forward to that bill!!
