Sub, looking forward to seeing travel #s. Planning on a 2+ kit in the future.. If it pulls more travel than the TC or bajakits I'll may just want one too..

Im interested in what happens with this project. Looks like you didn't have to cut the cross member for your DB lift which is a nice start! As far as geometric possibilities with a 2+, I would be curious if you could achieve much more with 2 inches out as to me it seems somewhat fixed from a travel perspective. Any idea if they plan to have their own spindles and such?

Lots of work to get the truck back from the drop bracket lift. More then I though but it will all be stronger because of it. As of right now working on that, they are going to most likely fabricate a totally new rear cross member ect. Also cut off stock bump stop location to make room for fun things. Not much of a update but figured I would post. Cheers thanks for reading.

with 4wd you wont be getting BIG travel numbers nwith a +2 kit...if its done right itll get the same as whats already out there. be cool too see if they come up with a different design.

So little faith, crazy that someone might just have a different idea then what’s out there....

You're talking to a guy who made and designed his own LT kit, as opposed to dropping it off for a shop to do it.

Maybe a little less sensitivity, Jan.

There's not much more you can do to gain more travel than a tc kit with only +2

I'm intrigued. From what you've said they're doing a new cross member which means they are or are not using the factory LCA location? Pushing the mounting locations together may get you more travel if that's what you've been stating. What shop is doing the work here?

Hey I think it's great more shops are getting into this stuff, I'm just saying there is really only so much you can do, especially with 4wd in the mix without spending ungodly sums of money, especially within the constraints you are talking about (+2, stock mount locations, stock drivetrain components). I know I sound like a downer but it's the truth... you can only skin the cat so many ways. And most of the companies with kits out have way more R &D than a small shop building thier first kit. Shit on my new kit I've changed like 40 things from my original cad drawing.

Even if they move the mounts to get a longer arm you are still limited by the width of the diff setup and cv's.... the only way to gain travel in a 4wd system is to have longer halfshafts essentially(which makes it take more wheel travel to get the joints to bind) moving the mounts won't help. For instance for my new kit I changed the joints to a 930 and a u joint to help gain travel thru the allowable drive angles these allow in addition to the shafts being longer so it can cycle 18"

I wasn't stating just moving the mounts would magically give more travel, just trying to figure out how hes going to get more travel and what the process is being they're making a new cm.

I'm just discussing the limitations involved with 4wd LT

And back to cost.... if I spent an extra 2k on some custom RCV stuff my kit would cycle 20" with 4wd but I'm not made of money and can't justify it....top 1450 trucks some only have like 16" and they keep up with TT trucks......it's not all about the numbers

Man I hope one day I can see your truck in person after I make it out west. Just from the stuff you have posted about your new kit is just impressive from a technical side alone.

As far as OP, basikbiker is about as legit as they come as I don't think anyone else has designed their own kit successfully on TW...which he has now done twice and did the welding too. Also, geo is simply geo when you figure in other constraints like axles and shit. Things have to be within spec to a degree which only gives so much play in the actual conceptual design unless you went with some other I beam/trophy truck set up. With that said, I don't even know at that point what is possible anymore without redesigning the whole front end. Personally I would shoot for a 4.5 set up as atleast you will be one of the few to have it besides guys with the solo kit that I hear is a beast in itself.

I think if someone figured out a more effective way to drop the differential it would go a long way towards achieving higher travel numbers. Far from an expert but it seems like these kits use a lot more up travel than down in terms of cv angles.
