These Vulcan welders are really intriguing me. Now I'm pro Miller thru and thru, but looking at these in the store the other day, I'm impressed. The fit and finish of these new welders is pretty amazing.

I'm seriously thinking about buying one to try out. They come with a full year unlimited satisfaction warranty.

How HF went from the shitty, Chicago Electric craptastic unit to this, I don't know? Impressive.

A couple of the units are spool gun ready as well. That is a great feature if you are going to weld aluminum.

I actually hope they are worth it. It might make the USA machines come down in price.

Stop me before I buy one!

I was just on their site. I was looking for argon/co2 tanks. All I found were tanks for O2. I could have sworn they had tanks for consumable welding gas.

Do it and report back! I want to learn how to weld, but was worried if I bought a shitty hf one, it'd turn me off of it because it's hard to weld with.

I've had a couple of these HF Trailers.....built a teardrop camper on one, and then bought one just to have around to haul stuff (before I had a pickup). They are great and hold up well. If it lives outside like mine does, you'll need to spray paint it after a year or so (the red paint turns pink-ish color).

When assembling, you'll want to remove the "grease" that the bearings come packed in and use something good quality.

I've replaced the wheels several times and the bearings once in 15 years (repack every season). I've never had a bearing or tire failure with either trailer.....they are a great value IMO.

I probably used several kinds over the years. Most recently, I've been using Lucas "heavy duty" (green)....but honestly, any good quality axle grease will do. The junk that the bearings comes packed in (or used to anyway) is more like wax than grease....it's crap.

The only annoyance is the size of the bearings and rear seals when it comes time to replace. They are an odd size, but are readily available on ebay, etc....just not usually on the shelf at autozone, etc in the trailer section. You might be able to get a replacement bearing or oil seal at the parts counter using the size/part number on the bearing or seal, but they'll likely be more expensive that way.

Well crap guess I better repack mine. I have had one of these trailer for 15+ years. Put racks on it to haul yard waste/etc. and put slightly larger wheels. Never had an issue.
