    Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen!

New guy here, I am going to be looking at a number of used trucks in the next two weeks to replace my current vehicle (3/4 ford).

I will be using the truck for everything - rough back country travel in the hunting seasons, fishing, and camping.
In addition to this I will be commuting and using the truck for work and work travel frequently.

I was hoping to pick some of your brains about what to look for and what to avoid. Are certain years better than others? common issues? Is the automatic trans weak vs the manual? what are the advantages of getting the TRD? How many miles is too many? Do these trucks need any specialty maintenance?

I am going to be looking at 4 door trucks between 05-2015.

Thanks for any advice or tips you can give, I know the above is a lot. I have never owned a Toyota and am looking forward to picking mine up shortly.

Welcome, honestly all Tacoma's seem to have their own pros and few cons.

I can speak for myself in saying that 2014's are great, double cab and long bed are a must have, automatic works great and manual's are really rare.

The older the model year and higher the mileage you go will just result in a few added expenses for any rubber parts or maintenance expenses.

I'm also a TW newb so I hope that my post somewhat helps.
