I have seen the top hat break on a few of the Icon stock style coilovers. Bad design period is all it is. I for one am not partial to buying anything Icon because in their journey and attempt to be different from the rest they in turn cause more issues than the ones they solve by attempting to overengineer things which more often than not ends up being the achilles heel in the design.

I am an engineer by trade and could not agree with you more. Lucky for folks that King exists!

I had to cut my coilbucket like this when I installed my Fox Coilovers on my TC +3.5 Kit. This was before the TC specific shocks offered by King and Fox. It was actually part of the TC instructions for trucks with 4wd.

I dont launch the truck but I dont baby the truck either. The coilbucket is not cracked or anything after 4 years with the kit.

I asked him about it, here's what he had to say:

As for the fender skirts, they are made out of .090" abs. I found a company here in salt lake and I bought a 4'x8' sheet for around $50.
I made templates out of poster board. I bought these things called clip nuts? They are literally a clip with a nut coincident with the center of the clip (I'll have to find a pic). So I just used the inner lip of my Glassworks fenders and drilled holes at an equal distance. I also used some factory holes near the engine compartment that the stock liners used. My fenders are line-xed so the inner fiberglass lip is a little stronger over just the gel coated glass.
The abs is your best bet. It is rigid as well as being flexible enough not to need a heat gun to install.

I also went to Napa And bought one truck mud flap for $15 and made mud flaps for the front. This reduced the amount of mud, snow, rocks that are kicked up onto my side windows.

I made splash guards like that out of shower pan liner from Home Depot where you get 30 sq ft for $35 or so. I had enough for little projects left over - it's good stuff to have around the house.

The amount of junk kicked up onto the sides of my baja fenders which in time makes it onto the mirror and even past is a real problem. I need something for a fender liner which protects from this, I'm just not feeling crafty enough to make anything for it.

The Liners arent too hard to make. Just some construction paper and a sheet of thin Abs. I ran for years without them in SoCal but when I moved to Utah, it was necessary. They work really well. Here are some mud pics from when I got randomly stuck in Idaho this summer. *Excuse the Bird photo bomb.

    What DaSlander Said.

I have made a couple for friends here in Utah with glass fenders. My friends think I should sell them but I think its too difficult due to the following.

    - Various types of glass manufactures. One of my buddies has some bargan fenders from Amazon and the inner lip is very small (like 1/2").
    - Fitment of glass fenders during the fender install.
    - Mold consistency between Driver and passenger sides.
    - Its hard to please the public when you are taking money from them.
    - Tire size. Not sure if my liners will work for someone running 35's.

I have more liner pics in my build thread in my signature.

That looks like a nice liner! More work than I am willing to put in though at this point. I'm all modded out.
