After all the usual deliberation that goes along with wheel spacers, I just installed a set of .75" BORA wheel spacers (Bulletproof Off-Road Adapters) purchased from @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc to deal with my rubbing on the sway bar, UCA, and frame front and back after going to 35s. I used some stacked up washers to test clearances and determined that I could get by with a 1/4" disc spacer and some extended studs, but after researching I liked the idea of the adapter style just a little better and these were priced reasonably @$90.00 for hub and wheel centric from what I've seen.

@SCSPerformance gets another +1 from me on these SR8 wheels. I hadn't contemplated running spacers with these wheels when I bought them for my 33s a few years ago, but as a bonus feature, the hub mounting surface is cut such that it doesn't require cutting the factory studs to accommodate a thin adapter style spacer like this where the studs protrude through the spacer. I don't think this is listed as a feature, but it should be.

Very happy with the end result so far. No more rubbing on the ground pulling into / out of the garage, and close to 1/2" clearance all around. It definitely changes the way the truck feels on the road...seems like it wants to wander a little more.

Finally getting up pics and a write up of my short but sweet trip to Utah over Labor Day.

We left Denver Friday night and got to Grand Junction after dark. We headed out early Saturday morning and snapped our first photos of the views outside Green River. Unfortunately all the wildfires burning in California and the northwest U.S. caused a haze across pretty much the entire state of Utah, so the visibility wasn't quite as good as I remembered.




We got into Zion late afternoon and started the hike up Canyon Overlook Trail in time to catch the sunset. It's only about a mile hike and some of the best views of the sunset. We were told the best colors show about 25 minutes after the sun dips below the rim, but we didn't have a campsite yet and didn't want to scramble in the dark too long, so we only waited a few minutes after the sun went down to start our decent. You can see the smokey haze from the fires over the canyon in my pictures.






We found a nice camping spot in the middle of the desert outside the town of Hurricane, near Sheep's Bridge Road off highway 9, not far from where @HomerTaco and I camped last year before Rock Therapy. Unlike last June, there were no bugs and it was cool enough to sleep with the tent flaps completely open. This was my first time using the RTT, and I have to say it was pretty amazing to hear coyotes howling while watching the sunrise out the tent with the comfort of knowing I was 6 feet in the air.






By the time we got wrapped up with breakfast on Sunday, it was after 9 getting into Zion and it was absolutely swamped with people for holiday. The line for the shuttle from the visitor center took over 90 minutes. We did the Narrows, which is a hike straight through the Virgin River. I didn't grab many pictures because my phone spent most of the hike buried in my backpack, since there was a constant danger of getting wet. We hiked about 3 miles up before turing back for lunch and then hiking up to the first of the Emerald Pools. We were exhausted from the river hike at that point made our way back to head out of town.



Moab wasn't originally part of plan, but our goal was to get 5-6 hours closer to Denver by Monday morning, which made Arches National Park an easy decision. We got into town late and didn't have a plan, so I cashed in some points and we stayed in a hotel.

Monday morning we got a pretty early start at Arches. You can see Balance Rock from the road but it's worth the short hike to walk around it.



My favorite so far at Arches is Delicate Arch and the trail to get there. It's a moderate 3 mile trail with almost no shade, so make sure you bring water and sunscreen. It was crowded, and we waited about 15 or 20 minutes here to have our picture taken under the arch.

The Fiery Furnace - We did not hike here as you needed a permit or a tour guide.


It was a short (1/2 mile?) hike to Skyline Arch, which is more picturesque to me from afar than it is up close.


We headed out one of the back entrances and drove up a 4x4 trail toward Tower Arch, but it was slow going and it was getting late, so we made the executive decision to head back to Denver. Covered a little over 1500 miles in 5 days, with 3 days of hiking through some of the most amazing scenery I've ever laid eyes on. Looking forward to my next visit to both of these parks, but preferably not during a holiday when it's packed like it was for Labor Day.
