Sooo... Once upon a time I bought my first 4x4 truck, a '91 Toyota Pickup. I loved it, but it ended up needing a lot more work than I had anticipated and it was my daily driver at the time. So unfortunately I had to part ways and sell it to get something a little more reliable. So I went through a few vehicles and ended up settling on a Mazda 3 since I do a lot of road trips. Well ever since selling the pickup I had an itch for another Toyota that kept growing every passing day; until fast forward to a few weeks ago, I couldn't take it anymore and luck had it that a dealer had a mint '12 Tacoma w/ 38k miles on it. So I traded in my Mazda 3 for it and have been happy ever since.

The truck was totally stock when I got it minus the previous owner plasti dipping the grill and wheels.

I'm not entirely sure what the end picture will look like but I have a pretty good idea of where I want to go with this build. My hobbies are all outdoors oriented (mtn biking, dirt bike, backpacking/camping etc) so I need something reliable to get me out and about with the occasional Moab rock crawling trip thrown in.

I was lucky enough to get some Ray 10's in the last shipment so at Discount Tire getting them mounted. 16" SCS Ray 10 in Gunmetal.






Slight tire rubbing at full turn backing up. But the new slightly wider stance over stock wheels is awesome.

 

Just installed the WaterPORT bed rail system. Thoroughly impressed! Oh and finally got the bed mat today and thrown in.

 

Did the secondary air injection pump mod yesterday afternoon. Took all of 5 mins.

 

Do you have a side view to show how much the wheel sticks out?

 

I only took 1 picture from the front before I had the new wheels put on. It's a couple inches difference I think. I had to remove the front mini flaps because the tires were rubbing at full turn in reverse.

Finally got around to painting my RCI rock sliders and put them on today.
Also had a surprise in the box when I opened it. Pretty nice size scorpion was hanging out but unfortunately his tail had been crushed by the sliders while I was moving them around.

 

RCI Aluminum Bed Rack Ordered and a new RTT

 

RCI Bedrack came in Friday so got to installing it this weekend. Tent is in the garage but going to wait till spring to pop it on.

 

Getting the exhaust rerouted at Mike's Alignment here in town. Can't wait!

 

Got my hitch relocation bracket installed. From bullaculla

 

Leaf springs arrived over the weekend.

 

Installed my lift yesterday afternoon. I forgot to measure before and after but it looks like I got a solid 2" of lift. I still need to get it aligned but so far I'm very happy with the results. Went with Nitrochargers all around with OME 884 coils and Deaver U402 Filthy Stage 1 leaf pack.

 

Got my ditch lights installed...well sorta. Still need to wire them and the switch up then I'm finished.
