Def on my christmas list.

 

I've been trying to figure out a method to store stuff in the back of my extra cab that is better than just piling stuff back there. When I want to get at something I don't have to move a dozen other things out of the way. I'd also like to move my hi lift jack and heavier tools to the back seat. Currently it's all in the way back of the bed in a drawer under my sleeping platform.

 

I'm not much of a fan of the molles either. I'm thinking a platform on the bottom, leaving a small space where the foot wells are and then a shelf like 12" or so above that with a lip to hold stuff. I can put my hi lift and tools and some other random stuff in bags on the platform with the hi lift.

I built a small shelf in the back of extra cab that flips up and down. Mainly for dog platform. It's plywood and I think 1x3s. Got some decent color matching carpet from Home Depot, check outdoor flooring, maybe $20/25 for carpet. Hard to explain. I'll have to shoot some pics on Tuesday when I have day off.

 

I have a step side too. Hard to find anything to fit our bed. Great work. Gives me some ideas for sure!!!

 

Awesome!! Yeah, it's been tough to find much that will fit these narrower beds since they weren't popular enough for hardly any companies to make something specific to them.

 

I put Back to the Future style wheels and light bars with KC lights to get mine to look as close to the movie truck as a Tacoma model could. Just need the front and rear tube bumpers to finish it off.

 

I'm trying to go for that look! Where did you find the roll bar? How is it mounted to the bed?

 

Everything I needed came in the kit that I bought off of Amazon. They're GoRhino bars. The bars were actually in 4 separate parts:
1. The front bars (a-bar)
2. The back bars (b-bar)
3. The kickers
4. The light bar that the KC's (that were also purchased on Amazon) mount to

 

Yeah, those were factory in pre-1998's I think. Works great to keep drinks hot/cold, but completely blocks all of my heating and stereo controls...

 

I found it. They were pre 98. I think I can buy it and replace my trim piece, but it’s not cheap

 

Yeah used interior parts for these things are hard to come by. Might check craigslist

 

You can't do that without replacing the whole dash. Look more closely at the bottom. Also, 95-97 has the hazard switch where the airbag switch goes.

 

If you have a 99 it will not fit

 

Well what a buzzkill lol. How do you know It won’t work with swapping that trim piece?

 

The 95-97 the ash tray is not part of the bezel like the 98-04 is and the 98-04 do not have room behind the bezel for the cup holder to go

 

That’s a damn shame. They should have kept that cup holder right where it was. It’s not like the 99 style holders are any more useful

 

Yes, but on the 98+ you can actually reach your radio and climate controls while having something in the cupholder
